How very tragic. The poor kid. You never know when an otherwise even tempered dog may turn vicious. When I was a boy, my neighbor's dog suddenly lunged at me and almost bit my face. The dog then quickly came from behind and bit me in the leg. I was able to kick the dog in the head and stop the attack. From then on I carried a long heavy stick when I walked near their house. An oak walking stick is a good idea for many reasons, both two and four legged.

Poor little girl.
I wonder, are these feral dogs? Does NSW have a stray dog problem? Or are these supposedly 'pet' dogs that were allowed to roam loose/escaped?
The vast majority of properly-cared-for pet dogs never turn vicious.

The same could be said of people, Ms. Cleo. You can't let your guard down.

True enough. I'm not going to go around shaking a stick at folk (or dogs), though.

Poor girls, Dogs belong to someone. That person should be punished.

the even bigger majority of domestic cats, whether properly cared for or brutalized daily, never kill a child..mixing dogs and children is inherently dangerous, mores the pity, cats are way to selfish.

I carry an umbrella >.>;. And a steel "chopstick" needle in my hair. This city is pitch dark after sunset. I don't shake them at people or animals, though!

I took on a rottweiler once. some gangsters were chasing me over a fence. I was more desperate and brave than the rotti so he backed way off me. He however scared of the gangsters. Strange thing, I still get scared of a barking poodle. If you must face a dog, be real animal about it.
