If this continues like this, the militants are going to lose.

If this continues like this, the militants are going to lose.

Possibility is there since US will be delivering 1000 sophisticated laser guided Bombs in addition to drones and F-16 fighter jets...to pakistan within few months. Ofcourse its upto Pak to decide whether to use these weapons against militants or neighboring country !

Hey Sarge, didn't you say the same thing 7 years ago? 6? Most people I know saying such things did, and are in broken record mode.

Hey Lars - Do you think the militants will win?

Let's just hope they can be contained or killed to limit their ability to damage others.

Sarge, I think they have a chance to take and hold parts of Pakistan but not all of it. I would concentrate on them if it were my choice. In Afghanistan, I will not say they will win, but lets just say they will not be defeated. These militants should be pushed back into Afghanistan and that country should be allowed to be what it always has been and always will be: a loose collection of no account violent warlords.

Dozens of militants armed with assault rifles attacked a security checkpoint in Pakistan’s volatile northwest, sparking a gunbattle that left 30 insurgents and one soldier dead, officials said Thursday.

The Pakistanis handled that rather well. Keep up the pressure on all sides, the cracks are already there we just need to finish the job.

I think they have a chance to take and hold parts of Pakistan but not all of it.

I think you are grossly underestimating Pakistan's resolve in the matter. They have been fighting hard over the past year and I don't think they have any interest in loosing the area again.

These militants should be pushed back into Afghanistan and that country should be allowed to be what it always has been and always will be: a loose collection of no account violent warlords.

Now thats just offensive to the majority of Afghans that are making strides to raise above the very same 'loose collection of no account violent warlords' that you so easily grouped the entire country into.

TheQuestion, I don't care what is offensive, I care what is true. Ignoring truth to be "nice" is part of the reason we have been running around the sandbox for nearly nine years with the Taliban making a come back. And the majority of Taliban are....Afghanis! Surprise!
