“If this goes on, al-Maliki’s government is aligning itself with Iran and the Assad regime against the rest of the Middle East and the will of the Syrian people,” he said. “That is a huge gamble.” If Saddam Hussein, who I think was a Sunni, controlled his country, with a majority Shiites with terror etc..and now, neighboring Syria has many problems, and my guess is that these rebels are of Sunni origin, trying to get Assad out, who is basically a Shiite, is it any wonder that IRAQ may want to support Assad??
