Why did the squirrel swim on his back?
To keep his nuts dry.
That's a joke. Buying machine guns and talking about killing other people? That's not a joke. It sounds like one of those stories you sometimes hear with students threatening to blow up their school. Some things, in this day and age, you just don't joke about.
We'll see what happens during sentencing.

I am not very up on this case. But reading the article I saw nothing about machine guns. I read "assault rifle".
Except they had not gotten around to threatening anyone.
But not threatening Fort Dix or any other specific target apparently.
It certainly isn't. But it would not be the first time I heard of guys getting together and having a very poor sense of humor. You could pretty easily get a lot of guys to start making some fairly detailed plans to do anything; rob a bank, rape a woman, plant a bomb. Guys in my dorm made stupid phony plans all the time. Anyone with half a mind could goad them to make it more elaborate.
However, when they start acting on plans, something has to be done. But that something probably should not be:
With TWO guys on the inside I think the FBI had a lot of control over the situation. I have to wonder if any of them ever posed the questions "Come on guys, don't you think this has gone far enough? We are not serious about this are we?" If those simple questions did not kill the whole thing, then I could certainly back the convictions easier.
I know I have heard that name before! Maybe I am thinking of his friend Patrick Fitzwilliam? Anyway, they have heard the jokes, so save it.
The yearlong investigation began after a store clerk told the FBI that some customers had asked him to transfer onto DVD some video footage of them firing assault weapons and screaming about jihad.

Likeitis - You are correct in your assessment that you are not up on the case.
The original probable cause affidavit is here:

What's the big deal? It's just a tiny group of Muslims. Nothing to see here.
Kidding aside,
The yearlong investigation began after a store clerk told the FBI that some customers had asked him to transfer onto DVD some video footage of them firing assault weapons and screaming about jihad.
Apparently they were stupid too. Anyway, give that store clerk a medal.

Suzu1-If you felt an urge to be specific, don't bother. Just rub in a fact I already admitted, drop 20 pages of light reading in my lap, and flit away.

There are some horrible terrorist out there. But it's dilligent people like the store clerk who did the DVD transfer. He's today's hero. And between the FBI and private citizens we can keep this country safe.
Thanks to the FBI and this private citizen we're safer today. < :-)

Thanks to the FBI and this private citizen we're safer today." Aday, what is wrong with you today? You are giving credit to the FBI? Don't you watch any TV?

skipthesong, even the FBI can do something good once in a while. I mean we pay enough for their service, I hope they are doing some good.
So in this story, they rate an "Atta-Boy" here. < :-)
