The goal in Afghanistan is what? Victory will look like what? "Without a vision we perish." By the day, it seems. And for what? A pipeline? The families of these guys would rather have them home in one piece.

Afghanistan, british and Soviets did not have enough money to make them better.

Hope God and USA,with more money, can make Afghanistan better, with rest of world and have good ties with rest of world.

I believe this time ,world nations can make afghanistan material world better, especially with afghanistan having 1st,2nd , 3rd and 4th richest nation help via USA,China,Japan and India.

They also have help from EU and many other nations. This time money, material things and wealth is not a factor,in making afghanistan better. The factor is God.

can their be any more lost lost cause than this one. More troops, more dead, more failure. Let the taliban take over and negotiate with them like bush did before 9-11. They were allies before the invasion.

No they weren't, the taliban were not allies before the invasion, some of the taliban ranks were allies up until 1989 but were immediately broken off.

This is not a lost cause, if this is a lost cause then the korean war was a lost cause for the US which it wasn't, so it's quite obvious this isn't a lost cause.

Obama is looking more and more like Carter. Where are the 40 000 troops the Army's top brass have requested?
