One would thing the US had more influence in Mexico. It seems USA ignores the chaos in Mexico. All the while more and more manufacturing is emigrating to Mexico from the US.

Mexico doesn't especially like the US telling it what it should and should not do, a lot of it due to a few not-so-recent invasions and annexations (of USA into/of Mexican territory).
And Mexico border is sufficiently distant from DC that DC doesn't have to care about chaos, except for the occasional random news bite, like Fast and Furious. And that only if one party or the other can make hay about it.
