More like what the hell is in the water in China? That's three rampages in five days.

Well I certainly believe everything the director of the Chinese propaganda department has to say!

A new meaning for the expression "China syndrome". Just what problem festering in their deranged minds do these people think they are solving by killing little kids? Get at that to get a handle on the problem. Maybe.

Well, if "massive social inequalities" is the cause, we'll keep seeing more of this in China.

massive social inequalities??? So in your opinion massive social inequalities is the cause??? More like untreated psychological problems

Maybe nothing can be done. If you have 1.3 billion people, there will be a proportionately large number of crazzies. To crazzy and lazy to think of their own crime, they just imitate the most spectacular crime, and you have a defenceless victim too. They must really be cowards at heart.

Well, it seems pretty clear that their 'copycat' theory is in fact a reality. I really wish that these people, if they MUST take a life, would simply take their own and leave others -- particularly little school children who have barely had time to live -- alone.

Jeez. The loony people are out in full force.

Because of China's one-child policy, the poor parents of these slain children now have nothing. Hopefully they will be allowed to have another child.
Chinese industries copy things from developed nations and make money off them, so this copycat crime spree should come as no surprise.

I listened to a U.S. radio show about China & America. One Chinese person said that Chinese think all Americans carry guns and shoot on sight. Also, school killings are common in America, and such things do not happen in China, i.e., China is so much better and safer than America.
Her opinion changed after living in the US. Maybe Chinese will take this as a sign that we are not so different. I'm not hopeful of that.
As smithinjapan stated, these are copycat killings. Will the next one be appauled by this latest killing and decide it is a bad idea? Or will this madness continue? I'm hoping it stops, but the pragmatist in me thinks next week will reveal another killing.

Maybe the solution is simply to stop publicising these incidents? I would have stopped copycats injuring 50 other people. I mean seriously does it improve your day in any way knowing that this happened? I know it doesn't mine, and while censorship is nasty there's also such a thing as responsible reporting, and this really isn't in the public interest, doesn't improve our lives in any way and doesn't contribute in any way to society, in fact the only person it serves is the newspaper because sensational headlines about suffering generate sales.
... and yes I am aware of the irony inherent in this. I read the article precisely because the headline was shocking and I felt the need to comment. If you're going to criticise my post on those grounds then save it. If I didn't comment this sort of news would go unopposed so it's a catch-22.

These are copycat attacks. When someone sees a mass murderer make the front page, they want to be that person too. Some people just want their existence and anger to be acknowledged, and their last resort is to go on a killing spree. You can't fix crazy, and copycat sprees like this are inevitable the world over. I'm sorry, but that's just the way the world works.

One begins to understand the iron fist of Chinese authorities. Not condone, but perhaps understand a little.
There was no need for this man to die alone, but no need for him to take children with him either. He could have just got his hands on some drugs if he wanted to die in China. Then he would have had a public execution.

Copycat murders commited by the untreated insane? I agree completely. The tragedy is immense. It is very sad to hear about such abuse. But this seems to be a new thing in China. Or have we not been hearing about other events over the years?

Looks like this is the new crazy crime dujour in China. Let's hope we don't start seeing copycats elsewhere.

The one child policy has led to an excessive number of men in China, in the tens of millions. Young guys who can't get a date, let alone a wife, as there are not enough women. Is that part of what is behind these attacks? I don't know, but China has two very big problems, whether they are related or not.

WTF China? Thats like the 20th stabbing spree this month and most of them involve children.
I went a year without getting any and I never felt the need to kill anyone. And considering all the cities like Shanghai I don't think it's that much of a problem.

Not quite true. Its more like misinterpretation of the one child policy by ignorant country folk has led to there being many more women than men. And yes it is at the root of other crime and I can imagine the frustration leading to things like this too.

Do not understand this at all. This is too tragic to have understanding. Pray for the dead, injured and their families. Looks like China is going to have and post police at these schools.

Seems guns aren't the only weapons that can create tragedies like this...
