So George, what were you saying about how well the war on terror is going? Going well for whom?

  • some14some at 04:57 PM JST - 7th July

In India, the country’s External Affairs Ministry issued a statement saying the government ‘‘strongly condemns this cowardly terrorists’ attack on its diplomatic mission in Afghanistan.’’

Bush and other world leaders will repeat and say the same.

tkoind2 - For cryin' out loud, for every successful terrorist attack, dozens or perhaps hundreds are foiled. Instead of criticizing Bush here, how about criticizing the scumbags who carried out this attack?
    Nah...

Why the Indian embassy? Because the idjits couldn't get to the targets they really wanted, and they just wanted to kill SOMEBODY. Anybody would have worked. But, that's what you get when dealing with tko.... I mean people that support the extremist view. Everything is perfectly fine as long as it pushes the terrorist (or anti-bush) agenda.

Sarge, don't let it get to you. Some people NEED to rail on GWB to feel fulfilled each day. It gives them a sense of purpose and a person to blame when they fail.

Not that the "international" Left here would care, but clearly it's now going a little less better for average Afghanis, since post-Taliban reestablishment of diplomatic ties with India could only have been positive in its results.

If we would have kept our eye on the ball instead of hitting Iraq we would not be in this mess. We allowed the Taliban to rebuild. Instead of knocking them into orbit, what did we do......We dropped the ball and hit Iraq.

This is not the lefties fault, this all lays where the buck has always stopped. At the decider`s lap.....

Memo to the right, no nation can fight a two from war at this time. right now there are two ways to end this,

    1. Reinstate the draft (but none of the political biggies want to even say that) it would be political suicide. Who wants to see Billy Baker from home town USA be forced to go fight rather than have his happy happy life?

    2. Walk away from Iraq and move all assets into Afghanistan. Then we can
smoke them out and clean them up.

No other way to do it.......BTW did I fail to mention that Bush and Dick really dropped the ball in our back door.......How about those real lefties running around South America........Drop the ball there righties...

    "Reinstate the draft"

That's not necessary and that's not gonna happen.

    "Walk away from Iraq"

What, now? That would be surrender.

My sincere condolences to the people of India, yet another reminder as to true face of terrorism that we all face.

  • nandakandamanda at 10:17 PM JST - 7th July

    Er, Bush, er... lefties?

This is the Taliban trying to wrest back control of Afghanistan. To gain popularity in Pakistan, where they are provided with forced or unforced 'hospitality', a bold attack on Pakistan's old enemy India would do the trick nicely, and help bring the Kashmiri separatists on board too.

Sorry all you lefty and righty folks who want to fight US politics on such threads, this is a local struggle for regional hearts and minds. Maybe the Indian Embassy was a soft target, but it was also well chosen.

As long as this War on Terror continues it doesn't matter what a person's political affiliation is once they're dead from a suicide bomb. People need to put partisan politics aside and deal with the issue at hand. We have to finish what we've started, no surrender, especially not to the inhuman, radicals who are the perpetrators of these horrible acts.

terror and is welcomed by the American fundamentalists.

Terror is not welcomed by the US, hence the Afghan War against the Taliban (radical Islamic fundamentalists who harbored Al Qaeda). As for American fundamentalism, American radicals are far less radical than some of the other hotheads running around wreaking havoc.

"This is about an internal struggle within Pakistan for control of parts of Pakistan"

Has Kabul become part of Pakistan? Surely NATO's failure isn't that complete yet.

  • adaydream at 02:09 AM JST - 8th July

    OOPS!!!!

We should have stayed in Afghanistan and done the job right the first time, but no let's pack the airways with lies, photoshop pictures of lies and don't forget fabricated letters of yellow cake purchases.

We went into Afghanistan to do a job. We go into Afghanistan with a purpose. This was even a justifible reason, but we throw it all to the winds to take up the war of choice and not the war on terrorism.

This administration has failed us in so many ways. < :-)

Sorry Madverts you caught me in a big one there. I'd just read a thread about Pakistan and jumped to this one. I had been to this thread once already and didn't reread the article and started commenting...so my mind was in Pakistan. Arigats.
