Lass than a day out of Rome and they hit a reef? Where was the navigator?

I guess stay calm in case of an emergency was not included in the safety briefing.
In all seriousness they must have been terrified that their worst nightmares were coming true. RIP to the passengers who didn't make it out of the catastrophe alive. I hope the survivors won't be scarred for life.

A boat which has hit a reef is not likely to sink. People most likely were not aware of what had happened, but the calmer heads were the ones who survived.

I am glad he decided to accommodate pregnant women and children. Would have been a disaster if he did not.

And then it capsized, well it sank, essentially.
Heads may roll!

First news said it hit a reef, then follow-up news everywhere started to say a sandbar, but 'reef' as in this JT article seems most accurate. Underwater rocks. The bottom was ripped open and there is a huge rock jammed into the hole. Certainly not sand...

That's probably going yo be the Captain's fault. One thing to consider is that the navigators aren't correct anymore with the recent magnetic north pole shifts but the Captain should have known it.
