82 arrested in China for planning Olympic attacks

BEIJING —

Police in the mainly Muslim region of Xinjiang in northwestern China said Thursday they have arrested 82 suspected terrorists who were plotting to sabotage the Beijing Olympics, state media reported.

Chen Zhuangwei, head of the Public Security Bureau in the regional capital Urumqi, said the suspects belonged to five terrorist groups which have been smashed by security forces in the first six months of this year, the official Xinhua News Agency reported. Few details were given, but the police reported earlier this year that they broke up one terrorist group from Xinjiang which was allegedly planning to kidnap athletes, journalists and visitors to the Beijing Games.

I hope this isn't falisfied red propaganda news China is spouting to try to make themselves look like they are "for the people".

If its true, then good on them, and they don't take cr@p, but if its false, they don't know how far is too far.

It is fact that China has had some skirmishes with Islamic groups in remote areas. I just hope that they're not trying to make it bigger than it seems.

I guess we have to blame Denmark or America or Sweden for this unfortunate outbreak of Islamophobia, and in Western China of all places. Seems it is now everywhere these days.
