By a vote of 43-56, the Senate rejected a Republican amendment that would have prevented the government from implementing the bill by using savings from Medicare. The measure needed 60 votes to pass.

This is great news. Republicans are completely out of step with the American people.

Government intervention into the private insurance companies." Its actually gonna help them before it hurts them! I wish I had a business where the gov forced people to buy what I'm selling! Oh, the public option is going to be carried by a few of them too... so NO FREE CIGAR when the kid pops out!

Not exactly, there is a very large or a significant amount of Americans, even realistically a majority, who agree with what the republican party is trying to do on this issue when it comes to gov. funded or paid/assisted abortions.

Another thing to point out yabits is that the bill was cosponsored by a Democrat named Ben Nelson.

The equivocal way in which you put that indicates clearly that your views only must up a minority. Every woman is free to choose if she wants to carry a pregnancy to term within the first trimester.

No, the reason why I say that is because I don't remember exactly off the top of my head the statistic but I remember them being very close if not over 50%, so if it is a minority it very much is a very large minority. Plus you have to keep in mind that there democrats who agree with this bill as well. So it is not really wise to just blame the republicans considering a democrat was one of the cosponsor on the bill.

You also don't get it, it is not about whether or not a woman can have an abortion, it is about whether or not federal money is going to be used to pay or to help pay for an abortion. This bill and its amendments doesn't make abortions illegal, they just want the person themselves to pay for the abortion, they don't want federal money to help pay for it.
