Karzai owes the world an apology for his corrupt government and greediness. What does his bank account look like? Similar to Ghadafi, Mumbarak, NK Kim, Castro and all the rest. The death of innocent people is extremely regretable, but he has to accept the responsibility.

For NATO, this war was totally lost. They are just face saving sitting idle over there to pretend 'messiah'!

said civilian casualties are no longer acceptable

But they used to be acceptable?

@Hessie: Actually they were 'expensdables' in NATO views!

Why the US/NATO is still in this morass is amystery. They should just leave this clown to swing (ignoring thequestion of why they stuck their noses in in the first place).

Karzai is a world-class idiot, but one created by the US, and in this case he happens to be right in rejecting the apology. It's a shame US forces don't do a little more research into their 'intel' before deeming a bunch of kids as insurgents.

That said, again, Karzai really isn't in the right place to be issuing threats; we all know that ten minutes later he'll be crying to the US that they are not doing enough for Afghanistan... then a few minutes after that he'll say he's allowing the Taliban back in... then a few minutes after that...

Right. "Created" by Bush? Why does St. Obama let him continue then? "Created" by "da CIA"? Why do they put up with the very behavior you criticize him for?

Time to cut our puppet's strings and let him fall. Actually, it's approaching time to call it a lost cause and get out of there. It just doesn't seem winnable or really worth the effort.

I could see this as a case where the insurgents fired from the area near where the boys were and the helos couldn't tell the difference. There is a big difference between engaging from the air versus ground troops. Of course that puts the ground troops at higher risk and NATO is risk adverse. Better to call in the air assault. If I were one of the grunts I would agree. This Monday morning quarterbacking isn't going to help a bit. Karzai is trying to look good 'cause he knows he's going to need friends when NATO pulls out. He'll have to hand out all sorts of cash to keep some people loyal. I bet he doesn't last 30 days.

The U.S. should bill Afghanistan the $2B per week they are spending to keep Karzai in power.

So you're in agreement with the world-class idiot.
