Ryan said the House would not be giving in to Democrats’ calls for votes on legislation expanding background checks for gun buyers and keeping people on the no-fly list from getting guns in the wake of the Orlando shooting.

Surprise, surprise, surprise. The NRA Representatives in full swing!

Republicans offered a dose of political reality, denying House Democratic demands and holding a Senate vote designed to show a bipartisan gun compromise can’t pass.

There ya go! Take sum medicine. & Apparently the Republicans have also gave the Democrats another smoldering blow as the US Chief Justices have just block obama's immigration plan from going into effect. Take that! (more medicine).

Back in 2007 about 7 million "illegal" took to streets of downtown LA marching and chanting, "Si,se Puede." Today, i tell them- "No se Puede" or (No you can't).

We're a nation of laws. America for Americans first. Go back to Mexico and proudly wave ur flags.

What the Democrats are doing is strategic. They are underscoring that it is Republicans in Congress, not Democrats, that are resistant to do what the majority of all Americans support on gun regulations. They are doing this in an election year. And, yes, this will be an election year issue.

Is it about gun control or raising money? Is it about working together or about widening the divide?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Let me just say how proud I am of my party.

Finally standing up to end our insane gun policy.

Repeal or Amend.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

......And the bad guys will stop. It that the logic? Newsflash!.....not a chance!

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

What the Democrats are doing is strategic. They are underscoring that it is Republicans in Congress, not Democrats, that are resistant to do what the majority of all Americans support on gun regulations

And they are forcing the republicans to go on record with their votes, so that they can then explicitly point out who is against gun regulation. This is why the republicans are so against the vote. They don't want to be on record with this.

Is it about working together or about widening the divide

By their stupid logic, they want you to be more "tolerant" in order to lessen the widening divide.

Finally standing up to end our insane gun policy

What's insane is Radical Islam. What's insane is considering tens of thousands of islamic refugees from entering. What's insane is preventing decent law abiders from their right. The incumbent administration is not protecting americans, therefore arm yourselves. Be vigilant. Do NOT tolerate these knuckle-draggers who refused to associate & assimilate into American culture. They can hop on a plane bck to the ME.

Pressure has built on Capitol Hill following the shootings at a gay nightclub in Orlando this month that killed 49 people and injured 53 others. The assailant also died. The attack followed other violent incidents over the past years including the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

Oh lookie. The assailant was a Muslim fanatic. The attack an act of terrorism.

And yet its all about our broken gun policy.

'Cause that is the issue. Our broken gun policy.

And we all know Republicans want to give terrorists guns.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Broken investigative system also. The Orlando freak was overlooked twice. This jerk had history, evil history. One gun shop refused sale as the story goes, good on them.

Republicans are evil terrorists too? What a childish insult to half the nation! Breaking news.....democrats also own guns and belong to the NRA. Are the wolves in sheeps clothing I hear about?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Do NOT tolerate these knuckle-draggers who refused to associate & assimilate into American culture.

Are you referring to the various white nationalists who refuse to assimilate into an American culture that's multi-ethnic? Ya'll should check out Belarus or Russia. Both are predominately Caucasian and have the strong leader you 'yearn tragically' (thank you J Heller) for.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

And we all know Republicans want to give terrorists guns

And we all know buffoons like Kerry & obama just want to let them into the country. Face it BS, radical islam has a new trophy for most killed in a single shooting incident. If the NRA wears one shoe, then wack-religion / "Muslim fanatics" must wear the other the other shoe.

It's hard for the left to wear shoes. No wonder why obama still doesn't say, "radical islam."

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

probably the only way to get through the media to their respective constituents of the attempt to try to change things and how important it is to get rid of Republicans

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Obama's Eric Holder was the head man for giving guns to the Mexican drug cartels. He's no republican.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Are you referring to the various white nationalists who refuse to assimilate into an American culture that's multi-ethnic?

No. I'm talking about the average Joe(s) the one's who do assimilate well into American culture. But the ones who don't want Sharia and Sharia supporters in their communities.

Why is it the Democratic Party and many liberals here on JT want full control of their own views? Am I seeing it wrong or do they want a totalitarian rule?

Last I checked, we are all human and all an individual. I like it that way. Droneism is not for me. How boring life would be.

A pointless demonstration. The weekend of the Orlando shooting, 8 people were killed and 32 other injured in Chicago alone. Chicago, has some of the most stringent gun laws in the nation, and some of them were found to be unconstitutional. I am willing to say with 99.99% certainty, that the shooters in the Chicago area, were all persons who would not be able to legally purchase a gun due to a prior criminal record.

Chicago is a very Democratic city and look at the violence. Also on this issue, the very liberal VOX website also proved a point Blue states have 42 percent more mass shootings than red states. Vox published its data after the Orlando terror attack last Sunday, and it suggests that blue states, which tend to have extremely strict gun laws, are ironically much more likely to have mass shootings than red states with less strict gun laws. The analysis found that 543 of the mass shootings listed by Vox occurred in blue states while only 330 occurred in red states. This means that a mass shooting, as defined by Vox, is 42 percent more likely to occur in a blue state after accounting for population differences.

So sitting there and holding hands though symbolic is not going to do anything. How about getting the criminals off the streets that would be a better start.

Alphaape,

The weekend of the Orlando shooting, 8 people were killed and 32 other injured in Chicago alone. Chicago, has some of the most stringent gun laws in the nation, and some of them were found to be unconstitutional.

Chicago can have the strictest gun laws around, but unless it builds a wall around itself, guns from other states can easily get in. As I mentioned before, violent crime is a major problem, but a different problem from crazed shooters. Stricter gun laws would mean less guns in circulation though, which would at the very least make guns more expensive for criminals to get their hands on too.

So sitting there and holding hands though symbolic is not going to do anything.

So what do Republicans propose we do about the problem? Because it is a problem. Not the only problem, but a problem that needs fixing just as much as inner city crime, jobs, welfare, or whatever other problem you guys throw to avoid facing this one. Honestly what the Democrats are asking for here is tame. Will it solve anything? It's hard to tell because Republicans refuse to even fund studies on gun violence. But it's a small step in the right direction that most Americans agree with in polls. I know political bias is tough to kick, but you have to be able to admit when your own side is wrong.

How about getting the criminals off the streets that would be a better start.

That involves a whole lot of other issues like better education for low-income youth, reducing poverty, prison system reform, decriminalizing petty drug possession, etc. I don't really hear any proposals from Republicans about those issues either, but yeah, we need to deal them. Don't act like we can't do this too though.

And about the shooting in Germany you mentioned in the other article, it's worth noting that 25 were injured, 1 (the shooter) killed. Germany had one shooting in years. The US has one every month. Germany tightened their guns restrictions in response to two school shootings in 2002 and 2009. Over 200,000 guns were turned in voluntarily, and since then they've lowered their gun deaths by half. Despite the recent incident, Germany seems to be doing pretty good with their stricter laws.

The sheep are MSM driven and will never see those points Alphaape. It is repeated time and time again with logic, but no chance to fathom the truths.

It was a divional tool to raise money and elevate Clinton. They accomplished nothing otherwise. And they could care less what happens in Chicago or any other inner city in terms of gun violence. Just suppress the minorities with promises which they perfected.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

One of the large problems with Chicago politics is that the corrupt judicial system lets many of the arrested gun criminals go. = The gun laws are not taken seriously and police arrest the same people over and over. This makes the Police's job more difficult and reduces Police morale. I would prosecute these gun criminals publically and logistically = this would put more pressure on the Lib judges to uphold the gun laws.

CHICAGO (CBS) — In the wake of another bloody weekend in Chicago, police said they have seized more than 4,200 guns this year – more than one per hour. Police said nearly 100 guns were taken off the streets on Father’s Day weekend alone. At least 13 people were killed and more than 40 others were wounded in shootings over the same weekend.

After Capitol all-nighter, Democrats push on for gun control

What about the all-nighter radical islam pulled on us?

Dipatcher: Emergency 911. Omar: In the name of God the merciful. Dispatcher: What? Omar: Praise be to God, peace upon the prophet. I let you know, I'm in Orlando and I did the shootings. Dispater: What's your name? Omar: My name is I pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi of the Islamic State.

. . . so there it is folks. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Quit blaming Republicans and the NRA-

The rule of law is at stake. Each of these proposals flagrantly violate the Right to Due Process.

The bigger issue here is the US Gov buying all these guns and ammo for non-military purpose. =Why does the US State Dept need $217 million in guns and ammo? Secretary of Health $121 Million etc? And why don't the Libs want to talk about these Gov guns and ammo purchases? Enough is enough and these politicians need to start giving up their guns and ammo and give them back to the American people. You are literally talking ammo buys in the billions of rounds = enough to dry up the American ammo market for a time (manufactures could not make enough to satisfy the Gov contracts).

kcjapan, "Surprise, surprise, surprise. The NRA Representatives in full swing!"

Perhaps you've never heard of the ACLU?

They also opposed not only these proposals but also the lists themselves as they violate the Right to Due Process.

As long as we are a country awash in guns, we will have mass shootings. It's not rocket science. Sometimes little kids will get killed, terrorists will get them easily, and that's just the way it is.

The end.

What's interesting to me is when Dems can't get what they want, they are beside themselves and will call the GOP EVERY name in the book, but if the reverse had happened, then it's GOP shut up and deal with it.

As long as we are a country awash in guns, we will have mass shootings. It's not rocket science. Sometimes little kids will get killed, terrorists will get them easily, and that's just the way it is.

So how did the terrorist in France and London get their guns?

Also, as you said, we just how to deal with it and we also need to deal with a country that just has to deal with radical Jihadism and having to deal with an incompetent Washington that refuses to define and deal with this problem.

The end.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

SuperLib, suppose your name were to appear on a list and you found yourself suddenly unable to vote without Due Process. Would you then still support such bills?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

So how did the terrorist in France and London get their guns?

The former from the former Yugoslav army arsenals. The latter (we're going back a bit, and a slightly different pigmentation) either from US dealers or Gaddafi.
