Step aside, Al-Qaida, Obama's Republican critics have you covered.

saying it will not change the “bloody messages” the U.S. military is sending Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Alrighty. By the way, how are the car bombings and beheadings going?

Obama will have to bow even lower to al-Zawahri when he meets him.

Patience, Patience, at least Osama and friends could wait until the speech has been made.

Even so, however, after the speech they will have to take a number and wait their turn to put the boot in. Ironic or what, isn't it funny how politics sometimes creates the strangest of bedfellows. Next thing you know, Rush and Osama will be sending each other appreciation letters, congratulating each other on their criticism of the talking teleprompter.

Now that he is in power Obama's handlers, so touchy last year about any mention of his obvious Mohammedan background - Fight the Smears! - are now quite eager to play it up in trying to maintain his ridiculous Look-at-Me-I'm -World-President image:

"During a conference call in preparation for President Obama's trip to Cairo, Egypt, where he will address the Muslim world, deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Denis McDonough said "the President himself experienced Islam on three continents before he was able to -- or before he's been able to visit, really, the heart of the Islamic world -- you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father -- obviously Muslim Americans (are) a key part of Illinois and Chicago."

    Teleprompter:

" you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father "

Incidentally, according to Sharia, that makes him muslim by definion. And if he renounces islam, he comits apostesy, which is punishable by death.

An interesting starting point for those apologizing sessions to the muslim clerics all over the world, to say the least.

Ayman al-Zawahri's an awfully guy. If he doesn't like Obama he could have said that in less than 10 words.

I don't think that Obama will achieve what he's trying for, but I'm glad to see him try.

There isn't a stop over in Israel either. < :-)

Pretty sure Rush Limbaugh and his far right wing gang are applauding what Al-Qaida is saying.

In your mind. It's the leftists that have had a love affair with Islam and their hatred for America. But now with Obama in office, it presents somewhat of a quandary for the left. Perhaps these Islamic terrorist groups won't be quite as appealing now. But, then again...

The main reason AQ is making noises about President Obama is that they fear the U.S. President's outreach to other nations will actually be effective in helping reduce the anti-American anger created by 8 years of Bush that became such an effective recruiting tool for their terrorist causes.

  • 0

    SushiSake3

Nearly a decade after 9/11 and the Republicans STILL believe the terrorists "hate us for our freedoms!" lol!

The GOP and their supporters are the gift of comedy that just keeps giving. :-)

    Helter_Skelter

anti-American anger created by 8 years of Bush

Islamic hatred and terrorism against the US goes back decades through many administrations. Osama bin Laden had no problems recruiting for the attack on the World Trade Center, which was planned during the Clinton administration. This delusion that if we reach out to the Islamic world, then all will be well, is nonsense. We'll just get our hand bitten.

  • 0

    Helter_Skelter

the terrorists "hate us for our freedoms!"

No, they hate us because they are commanded by the Koran to make holy war (Jihad) against the unbelievers (Infidels). Certainly explains a lot, including the futility of reaching out to them. I wish it were otherwise, but Obama's appeasement tour is a waste of jet fuel.

    SushiSake3

Helter - "This delusion that if we reach out to the Islamic world, then all will be well, is nonsense. We'll just get our hand bitten."

Bush spent 8 long, wasted years acting like a spoilt kid, refusing to speak to 'bad' nations, ignoring and lashing out at them, and what good did it all do?

I'll tell you what good it did -

AQ/Terrorist recruiting skyrocketed. Global anti-American anger at its highest peak ever More threats against Americans and American interests than ever before Implementation of illegal wire-tapping on ordinary Americans Bush and co. trampled on the Constitution they solemly vowed to uphold.

    Yeah, that worked. :-)

A new approach is critical at this juncture and if you call yourself an American, you should at least be giving Obama's strategy a chance.

    Sushi,

Here's a little context for you. George Bush was sworn in as President on 20 January 2001. He was barely in office for 8 months when Sept 11 2001 happened. 8 Months Sushi. It is now June and in three short months it will be Obama's 8 months as President.

Just suppose for a moment that 9/11 never happened on Bush's watch. That instead it is going to happen on 9/11 2009 on Obama's watch. Then he has to deal with the attack on our nation.

Do you honestly believe or could post with a straight face that he would be promoting an 'out-reach' to the 'bad' nations after that tragic event? You don't think he wouldn't muster all our military resources and declare a real War on Terrorism, just as Bush did?

The only beef that you really have with Bush is that he invaded Iraq to get rid of Saddam. It always boils down to that with you. Because as far as everything else he did in fighting the war on terror he and Obama are on exactly the same page. He just talks prettier then Bush ever did.

". Because as far as everything else he did in fighting the war on terror "

Please don't include Iraq in the so-called war on terror. Unless of course you're including it as something that notably fuelled global terror, and gave al-Qaida another play/recruitment ground.

If you ever figure that one out Sail, you might understand why people despise George W Bush so.

I have to say President Obama really presents a serious conundrum for the extreme American right....

...they have to choose between al-Qaida, or, ........wait for it, defend President Obama from the latest shriekings from an ever-increasingly isolated cave in the mountains.

Sailwind - "Here's a little context for you. George Bush was sworn in as President on 20 January 2001. He was barely in office for 8 months when Sept 11 2001 happened."

Sail, do you expect us to pull out the Kleenex and start sobbing that bush had such bad luck that 9/11 happened on his watch?

**You might just want to read this: **

    www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/29/AR2009052901560.html

    **Here's an excerpt - **

"Yes, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice may have been surprised by the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 -- **but it was because they had not listened. **And their surprise led them to adopt extreme counterterrorism techniques -- but it was because they rejected, without analysis, the tactics the Clinton administration had used. The measures they uncritically adopted, which they simply assumed were the best available, were in fact unnecessary and counterproductive."

    and

"The Bush administration's response actually undermined the principles and values America has always stood for in the world, values that should have survived this traumatic event. **The White House thought that 9/11 changed everything. It may have changed many things, but it did not change the Constitution, which the vice president, the national security adviser and all of us who were in the White House that tragic day had pledged to protect and preserve." **

Unfortunately, Sailwind, you bought the whole pack of lies, hook, line and sinker.

Sailwind - "The only beef that you really have with Bush is that he invaded Iraq to get rid of Saddam. It always boils down to that with you."

    - and the majority of your countryfolk. Sail, you are the one in the minority in this argument.

Sailwind - "You don't think he wouldn't muster all our military resources and declare a real War on Terrorism, just as Bush did?"

Sailwind, Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was pushing plans to invade Iraq **while the Pentagon was still burning **and a top level meeting on the subject was held just 3 days after 9/11.

Did Rumsfeld, Bush or Cheney have any proof at all that Iraq or Saddam was behind 9/11??

    No.

Sailwind, it wasn't just the the rash decision-making that was a major part of the problem, it was also how Bush and co. ignored CIA data that repeatedly said Saddam was not behind 9/11, trumped up claims of WMD and then actually invaded the WRONG country.

But you fell for all of it.

    Just incredible.....

Sailwind - "Because as far as everything else he did in fighting the war on terror he and Obama are on exactly the same page."

Except both Presidents are focusing on different countries, using different tactics, chasing different goals while the former president ignored diplomacy, the current President embraces it.

But if you say they Bush "and Obama are on exactly the same page" then you must be right - in your world, at least. :-)

    Sail,

So what was your 04:27 PM in aid of?

    Madverts,

If you actually think rationally and not start frothing at the mouth at the mere mention of the 'B' word. I'll be more than happy to expand my point. After 9/11 the United States and yes the entire world had to confront a new enemy that we have all never really faced before. Terrorism has always been a tactic used by groups to further their radical political causes but until that day it was mostly considered and confined to regional problems and never went 'Global' as it did on 9/11. We all as a planet had a new threat that endagers us all. The ability that now A.Q or some other group bent on killing us could also obtain weapons of mass destruction, is the reality of our world today. We should take every pre-caution that these devices never reach into their hands.

There was no script for Bush to follow after 9/11, there was no precedence on how to conduct this war on terror. There was no history that really could be followed and studied to make the best decisions.

You want it in a nutshell....We're still struggling with what to do with the prisoners we have in GITMO. We still haven't really figured that one yet, and neither has Obama. That should at least give you and the rest of the 'B' obssessed some pause to actually do a little rational thinking on the subject for once. This ain't easy and it still ain't, Obama discovered has discovered that also, or our basic policies really would have changed, and they haven't.

The point is Bush had to conduct the Global War on Terror, with-out a net. You and Sushi and others who are just obsessed with the guy, really do forgot that the world really did change after that day and it was uncharted waters for all of us from that day forward.

As far as Iraq, I'm glad we took Saddam out, I fault Bush for trying to do it on the cheap and not putting enough troops on the ground the first time, to get the job done right. And yes Madverts, Iraq and the global war on terror are two entirely different things, I got that a long time ago, thanks for asking, but I never said they were ever related in the first place, you know that to be true after all the years I've been posting here.

  • 0

    Madverts

I don't consider myself Bush obsessed, but if that helps your argument then hey-ho buddy! I'm merely pointing out your lamenting of other people mentioning Bush when you've been physicaly posting abut him yourself on the same thread seems a little odd.

"And yes Madverts, Iraq and the global war on terror are two entirely different things"

But Bush (heh, the obsession...the froth!) didn't sell it that way - quite the opposite in fact, and I'm sure you're personally flip-flopping right now in saying so.

Back on topic, I think what's really getting your goat is that "Al-Qaida has repeatedly lashed out at Obama since he was elected, a move some analysts believe indicates the terrorist organization is worried he will be effective in improving the U.S. image in the Muslim world."

The fact that 'Qaida are panicking that Obama will be further marginalzing them (hey without invading anybody!) by reaching out to moderate muslims goes to show what a smart statesman he is going to be.

This would never have been possible had McCain been given the top job, and of course, the roots to your own personal nemesis.

And of course the fact that "bu$hco" - unlike certain infidel powers that blundered into Messopotamia - never "stoled all a duh oil frum Iraqi people!"
didn't change a single mind in the ME, did it.

There was no script for Bush to follow after 9/11, there was no precedence on how to conduct this war on terror.

There actually was a script: Al-Qaida's plan to entice the United States to both pull troops out of Saudi Arabia as well as to embroil it in a long, costly war of attrition in the area. Bush followed that plan to a "T."

Yabits is right. A nutter trying to push christian soldiers out of his lands has been made into a conquering force. And the worse thing is, if you remove the bias, this idiot may actually have a few valid points. A "real" change will starve this malaria.
