Unbelievable. All that good will and all those hard won sacrifices, after 7 years, now it's almost back to square one in Afghanistan.

Whatever happened to all those Special Forces soldiers that were doing such an incredible job in Afghanistan immediately post 9/11 and early 2002?

that may be in response to US led foreign forces build-up near Afghan-Pak border. Some positive developments are expected from NATO in near future but at the moment it shows AQ is all in all.

The longer it takes us to get our butts in Afghanistan and doing the damn job that we started, the more kids keep joining Al-Quaeda and becoming the hero for the day.

These kids are joining, thinking they can make a difference. Thinking they are doing their duty for their people.

We have to stop the process. And sending in a few replacement troops here and a few there ain't going to do it.

The war of choice has taken away from the real war on terror. < :-)

Back to square one, rjd jr, I hardly think so.

One of the good points shown by this is that Al Q have pretty much given up on Iraq to focus more on Afghanistan. I am so, so sorry for the good populace of Afghanistan who will be forced to suffer these inroads by cynical and calculating political brutes from other countries pushing their own bloody agenda.

Remember right after we were attacked on 9/11 and the hoopla that was being raised by the republican party. The Patriotism cries and the freedom rings, the Freedom Fries, pouring French Wine down the drain, etc. That's how the republicans got poor kids to enlist in the military, while their rich childern went to Bermuda or hiding in the basement corner.

They use the same process. They get a bunch of wide eyed kids who see themselves as heros for the country. They get them fired up and they do whatever is required.

They are the heros of stories and legends to be told in the future.

But that's how they have been raised since birth. Anything, absoltuely anything for their country and faith.

No X-Box, no enlistment bonus or reenlistment bonus. < :-)
