If there ever was a time for the U.S. to leave, time NOW. This is absolutely insanity, if I were President how in the universe could I even sleep at night knowing these latest developments were unfolding and continue to sacrifice American and coalition lives? A full scale Sadr war is a nightmare scenario to the max. You thought the sunni insurgents were bad?

    This is madness, just madness.

    rdj - no worries!

Bush needs to bow to his defence and oil baron buddies, all of whom are making out like bandits at the moment.

He just keeps repeating "terror!" and most of the War Supporters just keep buying it.

With cowards like Rice and the Bush admin calling him a coward, well, it's not really any surprise he's stepping up the bombast as well. Now, ACTING on it is a completely different thing.

But... this is proof yet again that the few remaining war supporters on this site (even WITH changed handles, we know you!) are completely and utterly wrong and in denial about the actual truth of the situation. Thank GOD that bush screwed up the US economy and gas situation (despite illegally invading a country rich in oil) so badly that the #1 focus has been taken off the futile fight in Iraq!

Get a load of the anti-liberation types here backpeddling on their original positions regarding Iraq.

The pro-Saddam crowd no longer come here with "No blood for oil"

    What happened, smith and sushi?

Just like to remind everybody that freedom is free when somebody else is dying for it. Bush and Co. should be ashamed in putting young soldiers on the streets doing police work, a task that they are not trained for. It is really easy to say "bring it on" when you are surrounded by bodyguards.

I still can't get over the fact that only after a few years, both Japan and Germany, Italy too all got over their invaded countries and became working establishments.

What is wrong with these people?

what ever side one stands on with the war in Iraq, who knows the actual reality for the invasion of Iraq, there has been many many reasons given, as for out openness or leaks and notions. A couple I could support was the treatment of its people as we have seen with mass graves and executions and also a southern staging point if ever a confrontation with China again a position I could support, what I did not support was oil...

As for Bush and the war I , from the very beginning seen he and his administration had no credibility with running a war and for many reasons and situations that took place in the very beginning, one most important was a cease fire in tora-bora that let bin laden get away and then what is war.. those that are allies and those that are enemies that are against you.. that is al-Sadr from the start, he was against the US and it was war, he should have disappeared right at the start as he was an enemy. He should still disappear or just say Killed! Bush and his crew was totally unable to carry out the war and he is incapable of winning it and he has proven that to the world and to me! He has been incapable of being a president and he has proven that, many times as well with what the country has fallen to, economically and politically

    Sarge

If he does, he's even dumber than I thought he was.

"If there ever was a time for the U.S. to leave, ( the ) time ( is ) NOW"

Yes, we must ensure the wackos take over Iraq so President Obama can send the troops back in.

Can you spell islam? Or was that a trick question?

Salah al-Obeidi, al-Sadr’s chief spokesman in Iraq, acknowledged that al-Sadr and the Iranians were at present bound by close ties and common goals.

Bring. It. On." It is after all, what they want, they have been asking for this fight for as long as I can remember. I do believe that they do believe it is their duty to fight the US, even if we weren't in Iraq..

  • 0

    Madverts

Heh. Different day, same Denial. redacted is still muttering about "liberation" and jambon is asking for the insurgents, presumably any of the different groups now fighting in Iraq, to attack US troops by bringing it on.

Jeez. And these people claim to be "patriots".

redacted - "Get a load of the anti-liberation types here backpeddling on their original positions regarding Iraq."

No change - still opposed the war as I have been since before Day 1.

The only change is your handle name.

Hope you're proud - you get ANOTHER name to hide behind :-)

"No change - still opposed the war as I have been since before Day 1."

And still in Japan, where your taxes support US foreign policy.

    Thanks bro.

Heh - now uhm, redacted, is talking about taxes in Japan rather than addressing his back-peddle on the Basra thread.

    Radicals. They're all the same.

Come on redact - fetch us a link to a blog telling us all is well and that even al-Sadr's momma on't like him anymore....

    "Al-Sadr may restart full-scale fight against U.S."

He's young, probably doesn't know his history, probably thinks US forces are as wussified as the Brits.

    Failure is what emboldened Mooky.

    Birtish failure.

    Madverts

Wait redact - the other day you was saying that Basra was just dandy and that Iraqi forces were "triumphant".

    What gives bro?

Heh, a 14 month old link to say this is really all the fault of the brits whilst the (ahem), US "liberation" remains all glorious?

Like I said - this is no longer Denial. This needs a medical, phsyciatric term.

  • 0

    Madverts

And uhm, heh, redact - what happened to your best efforts to delude fellow sect members about al-Sadr's "waning popularity"?

    More recently - -

"From The Times April 10, 2008 Iraq snubbed Britain and calls US into Basra battle"

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/iraq/article3671530.ece

A source told The Times that US forces were in Basra, eating and sleeping alongside their Iraqi counterparts, “basically doing the work that we were supposed to do. It was a catastrophic failure of diplomacy.”

The source described the moment when the American general arrived at the British base from Baghdad: “Suddenly the cavalry appeared.”

The source said that the Americans provided “loads of technical equipment and combat power”. As soon as the Americans arrived and started hitting houses in Basra, the daily attacks of indirect fire on the British base stopped. The source said that during that time the mood among the British forces on the base was “miserable”.

Again, if this thing starts up with Sadr, and it very well may, you'll hear the morons who still stand behind this useless war saying it's everyone else's fault, and poor old Jambon and skipthesong will suddenly develop amnesia that they fully want Sadr to bring. it. on.

Zaphod: "Can you spell islam? Or was that a trick question?"

Not a trick question at all, just a moronic one. It's the idiocy and flagrant arrogance of the current US admin. that brought this on.... or wait..... was Sadr threatening to fight US forces in Iraq before the illegal invasion began? (now THAT's a trick question!).

Skipthesong: "Bring. It. On." It is after all, what they want, they have been asking for this fight for as long as I can remember. I do believe that they do believe it is their duty to fight the US, even if we weren't in Iraq..."

Ah, leave it to skipthesong to come on here, trumpeting all those who are 'right' in the world, and who personally would be happy if he could kill 1.4 billion of the planet's people, because he 'believes all they want is to attack US forces'.... (and we can't have that even from the FEW who DO want it simply because US forces attacked them!). Skip.... you are truly a sad individual. ANYONE who says they want mass genocide, or even the death of a single individual, is sick in the head. And here you proclaim to be 'fighting for the people'.... tsk tsk.

This is one of the reasons that daddy bush didn't attack Iraq after Saddam pulled the Iraqi troops out of Kuwait. This is one of the very reasons that the leaders of the surrounding countries told daddy bush to not attack Baghdad.

But baby bush, with his deer, eyes in the head light mentality, did the unspeakable. he never listened to anybody with any common sense before he attacked.

    SuperLib

You guys need to calm down and speak to each other in a more civil manner.

  • 0

    adaydream

Aw-w-w-w-w SL, we're pretty calm here. You remember this administration and so many george bush follers couldn't get into Iraq fast enough. Those of us who wanted more time to see the proofs that we knew were lies, were called un-American, un-patriotic. If you didn't wear an American Flag on your lapel, then you weren't proving your patriotism.

Now I understand that Al-Sadr is calling for calm in his militias. He's still the ring leader of this bunch of fighters. The U. S. shouldn't ever take him lightly.

Halliburton and military suppliers are cleaning up participating in the booming profits. US have spent $750 million on a fortress “embassy” i Iraq with anti-missile systems and its own electricity and water systems spread over 104 acres. It looks like we are heading towards WW3 between the Zionists and Arab world. Usrael vs Arabs. The oil argument is also often used as reasons for war but would it not have been better to have a stable Dollar instead?

  • 0

    Zaphod

" US have spent $750 million on a fortress “embassy” "

I guess that is the first time I agree with GRoualt. This monster embassy in Bagdad is a farce. They will end up with this huge white elephant in the middle of a permanent war zone, and needing a small armee just to defend it... and alreay now, they don´t find personnel staff it. Understandably... who wants live as live target practise for Al-Sadrs goons?

All because of the ludicrious assumption that Iraq would turn into a blossoming democracy if just Saddam was removed.

  • 0

    SushiSake3

Zaphod - "All because of the ludicrious assumption that Iraq would turn into a blossoming democracy if just Saddam was removed."

The crazy thing is that posters like redacted, SuperLib and Sarge all bought the spin.

And even sadder that they still do.

They are a gift to the terrorists, there's no doubt about that.

    SushiSake3:

I don`t understand who you mean by "the terrorists". Terrorism is a tactic, not a state or a political system. Can you define?

bin Laden should be president of Saudi then will that make Saudi a terrorist state sust like Israel?
