Pilot "whales" actually aren't whales, they are large dolphins.

It is said whales are very intelligent animal, so it seems that they just decided to commit suicide like mental patients do, if scientific cause can't be found. In other word, they are only sick.

"Spit" is a bit of a misnomer..Farewell Spit is kind of like a large mudflat area at low tide & there have been many mass strandings there. The rescuers have had to give up overnight I hear & with hot sunny weather predicted for tomorrow I don't think these poor animals have much chance :(
