No doubt there will be some carping that Krugman won primarily because he has been a persistent and vociferous critic of GWB from the moment he unveiled his tax cut plans campaigning for the Republican nomination. But in fact Krugman worked in the Reagan administration and, more recently, favored Hillary over Obama. Well deserved win!!!!

I don't know economics at the level where it becomes worthy of such a prize, but I'll have to trust the judges. In any case, I've enjoyed Krugman's writings over the years, especially his book of several years ago, The Great Unraveling.
Some people do lead sad, bitter lives. It's unfortunate that Enron was not smart enough to listen to him.

Purely political decision. Of course a Bush basher would get the Nobel prize... from the same people who gave one to Al Gore and Yassir Arafat.
