Impossible to prevent this type of lunacy.

It will be interesting to see the name of the assailant in the next few days. It will become a little more clear if this was really a "mental health issue"

They should have shot him not tasered him. Another nut that will get a lenient sentence in a prison hospital at taxpayers expense. But let's not forget to mention terrorism just to keep the people scared and police budgets assured...

Regardless of the motive, I think anyone who thinks it's ok to kill other people UNDOUBTEDLY has mental health issues.
Alistair Carnell
Oh come on now, terrorism? I witnessed a tramp stabbed to death in broad daylight in Tottenham Court Road, back in the summer of '89 ... Was that a terrorist attack ? A friend and I followed the attacker, as he calmly walked off (and we notified a police officer). Other friends tried to help the homeless guy, but to no avail.
Family/friend day out turned into a nightmare. Care in the community wasn't working back then either.

Somalian-Norwegian, according to the cops. So quite possibly of refugee background.

Says something about the professionalism of London police force that it's able to deal with such a situation with other than lethal force.

Alistair C Sadly right, one quote on BBC said there were many people with mental health problems on the streets who should be in care. I worked in the NHS at the time care in the community was introduced, it was obvious the Government did it to cut costs, but were repeatedly told by the professionals that it would only work if properly funded, it is not a cheap solution. Naturally the Government ignored them and sneakily cut the funding for mental health care. Care in the community never had a cat in hells chance of working and still doesn't.

Fleeing the short Norwegian nights, then.

This standard official response has become so routine, it would be comical if the issue was not so sad.

Good thing for the society that he lives in that it is not awash in cheap firearms.
