Russia and China are as responsible for this mess as the US is by not allowing the UN to come in and clean this place up. Even if they contributed zero troops, they could at least stop obstructing people that are trying to do good in the world.

Another Hollywood star making international headlines on a topic nowhere near connected to her profession. It's just a random persons opinion if not for stardom fame.

Though it is a bungled mess.

Yeah, these self important movie stars think that people really care what they say or think.

There common people in my view. Not political scholars. Not psychiatrists, not even sociologists. Their job is to pretend! Often their beauty is in make-up and plastic surgery. Hollywood stars are privileged, and out of touch with real worl life. So few live a good, honest and honorable life.

Mark & Hawk,

What are you guys talking about? She's hardly your average Hollywood fair weather activist. She's also the special envoy of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. How did you miss that? Furthermore, she's been a Goodwill Ambassador for 10 years before this new appointment, sharing this title with the likes of Richard Burton, James Mason and Sophia Loren. Lighten up.

Just saying fame and fortune doesn't make you qualified. Too much of Hollywood and professional sports in headlines regarded as experts in what they say and do. Acting and playing their expertise. Over the years it seems they are elevated above true scholars in many fields.

Mark, I think the music artists are the worst at what you're talking about. B Springsteen springs to mind and that female trio, can't remember the name. But I find the serious Hollywood activists the most knowledgable of the bunch whether I agree with them or not.

Ah ha, it still hurts that the Dixie Chicks leader said it was embarrassing that Bush was a fellow Texan. Like everyone else in the USA worships Texans? After the comment, their crossover appeal to pop fans exploded.

And Springsteen being the worst politically? Even worse than Ted Nugent? That is more manure than you will find on any country singer's immaculate boots.

Bruce Springsteen wrote "Born in the USA" and promptly had Ronald Reagan praising it as the song of the year (seemingly without really listening to the lyrics). Whether Reagan was in the category of "serious" Hollywood is still up for debate. Springsteen's successful concert tours don't seem to show his popularity drying up.

Dixie Chicks sold millions to disaffected Americans during the Bush years. The country music station DJs who banned their music because Natalie Maines dissed Bush? Well, none of them became household names outside of Texas so who knows how they are doing these days. In the Maines family, Natalie's dad Lloyd never lost any work as a session musician and producer though--one of the most prolific country/Americana musicians from Texas.

And that, as they say, is the rest of the story...

I'll bet Angeline Jolie, the actor, has accomplished a lot more over the past decade and a half than that buffoon plagiarist ophthalmologist turned senator, Rand Paul.

Jolie was named a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador at UNHCR headquarters in Geneva on August 27, 2001. Over the next decade, she went on more than 40 field missions, meeting with refugees and internally displaced persons in over 30 countries.[95] In 2002, when asked what she hoped to accomplish, she stated, "Awareness of the plight of these people.

On April 17, 2012, after more than a decade of service as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Jolie was promoted to the rank of Special Envoy to High Commissioner António Guterres, the first to take on such a position within the organization. In her expanded role, she was given authority to represent Guterres and UNHCR at the diplomatic level, with a focus on major refugee crises.[105] In the months following her promotion, she made her first visit as Special Envoy—her third over all—to Ecuador, where she met with Colombian refugees,[106] and she accompanied Guterres on a week-long tour of Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, and Iraq, to assess the situation of refugees from neighboring Syria.[107] Since then, Jolie has gone on a dozen field missions around the world to meet with refugees and undertake advocacy on their behalf.
