My sister used to do some stuff with the Catholic church, helping to convince people that homeschooling is the way to raised well-balanced children or something. She was invited to Rome and was shown around the city by Bishop Ratzinger, who we now know as the Pope. It makes talking about religion at family events somewhat more difficult...

a statement, posted on the archdiocese’s Web site, said. “Those working for renewal in the Catholic Church in Ireland did not need this comment on this Easter weekend and do not deserve it.”
Again, the church poses as the victim. Why don't they see it's time to face the facts and change what needs to be changed?

What I find fascinating is that this sort of thing was overlooked by practically everyone for literally centuries and now suddenly its a huge deal. What changed?

Let's not forget the Anglican Church was founded so a serial adulterer could marry a woman he later had killed.
I'm not taking any lectures on credibility from the Anglican church.
Happy Easter, all.

And not just once, 5 times! (Although to be fair, he only killed wife numbers 2 and 5! 1 & 4 he banished. 2 & 5 he executed. 3 & 6 died of natural causes.)
A key fact the Church will not recognize, and which is at the root of ALL of these cases, is that celibacy is unnatural, no matter how many vows a person takes.

HeyLars, The difference is that hundreds of years ago the Church could burn anyone who disagreed with it at the stake and now they can't. The playing field is a bit more level.
