    Why is it that conservative types have such problems with women and gays? The only answer I can think of is the possession of an extremely weak mind. All the rest is just excuses to cover the fact.

    Religion has become nothing more than a running joke in Northern Europe.

    As far as the liberalization of the church goes, since when did earthly politics and social fads like political correctness shift the word of God? Does God's word shift with the political and cultural winds?

    When it is the total fraud that it is and has always been.

    since when did earthly politics and social fads like political correctness shift the word of God?

    Its extremely difficult to tell where the word of God ends and where the word of man begins. For example, the Pope is said to be God's representative on Earth, but there is no word of God to justify such a position. So is he just a man making stuff up or is he truly representing God?

    Then you have modern reinterpretations of the word of God, which is fair enough. Why assume the ancients got it right the first time? So much has obviously progressed, why not our ability to understand the word of God?

    And I don't know what part of the Bible exactly that people are using to excuse their problems with women and gays, but if its Old Testament (and I think it is) every single one of them ignores heaps of the Old Testament that equality for women and gays can only a be a stretch because of their poor weak minds, as I said in my first post.

    @Seavey:

    It's pretty ridiculous to suggest that conservative "types" have a problem with women. Many conservatives happen to be women - do you think that have a problem with themselves? As for gays, many straight people think that homosexuality is gross. Any person that isn't willing to have an intimate relationship with a gay person shouldn't be thought of as having a "problem". For the sake of most Anglican's, I would hope that the next leader of their church doesn't try to force church members to embrace a sexuality that they find so disgusting that they could not bring themselves to engage in themselves.
