The Truth Matters
Another in the ever mounting evidence that states climate change is occurring.

Unnegated
More deniers will just switch from saying there is no proof, and seemlessly declare that its natural and not man-made, and do their best to hide their former position.
And for a lot of them, it will mostly be based on faith that God would not let us ruin the Earth.

Russia, USA, Canada, Norway, Denmark now are all seeing new possibilities as the Arctic will now be in the center of the world with it´s vast oil reserves, natural gas, fish and last but not least new transportation routes. It will be much closer to shop goods over the Arctic from Asia to Europe or from Europe to west Coast of North America.

I'm sure if I cover my ears firmly enough like a Global Warming Denier I can pretend climate change isn't happening and that it's all only a scheme cooked up by the treehuggers to swindle us all and take away our freedoms!!

All this climate change "hype" is damaging to the economy and takes away jobs because in Climate Change Denier World, jos and economies don't depend on the resources that are being steadily depleted by climate change and population growth.
Climate Change Denier World rocks because we get to wear new rose-tinted glasses every day - wow!

What many people think is that the warming of the planet is not due to man made reasons but simply the sun being hotter. It is not a debate about the world getting hotter. You look at photos of the North Pole today and a photo 50 years ago and you see that the ice is melting. I think every country in the world agrees to this fact. Instead of having a doomsday mindset that we are all going to die, this is not going to happen. Instead once the ice cap is gone or shrunk there are many possibilities and countries are now all eyeing the Arctic and fighting to get a piece of that pie.
There are five states competing for control of the Arctic's oil and gas reserves, with Russia leading the pack. The US looks likely to remain on the sidelines, but what opportunities will the natural resource grab present for Canada, Norway and Greenland?

Even Canada no longer abides by the Kyoto Agenda or the Protocol of the Elders of Kyoto or whatever it was called. That should be a sign for people like sushisake3.

Had natural global warming not occurred thousands of years ago much of the North hemisphere would still be under ice.
Why do we assume that the particular climate we are in now is the appropriate or ideal climate for the earth?
The earth's climate has always changed and always will changed. The climate has never been stagnant nor should it be.
Nor should be assume that if we all drive Priuses that the climate will suddenly stop changing and inclement weather will stop.
Welcome to the planet earth, where the climate changes.

Two degrees. Like with the human body, if the planet’s average temperature increases by just that amount, all havoc breaks loose – mass extinctions (already started with many species), ocean currents change (the Arctic ice melt will have a major effect on this, perhaps even make parts of Europe uninhabitable), areas become unliveable and crops ungrowable.
It pays to educate yourself, eh unreconstructed. :-)

My house is at 46 meters elevation and 15 kilometers from Ariake Sea. I figure that distance will be about halved by the time I die.
Retreat from the rising seas well be a long, painful process, particularly for poor countries.

I do agree that humans in general are too greedy and that we think too little about the environment but I am not really sure what is causing global warming. I am not a specialist, I want the truth. There are experts on both ends. What I know though is that when the ice melts in North Pole this is not going to have an effect on the sea level. Because beneath the ice in the Arctic there is no land. If you have ice cubes in your glass and the ice cubes melt your glass will not flood over. I think it is different with Greenland and Antarctica as there is land under the mass of ice. With a drastic change in temperature there will be winners and there will be losers. If Polar Bears are being endangered one should try to protect them. This I believe but on the other end, with the ice gone this will create a new dynamics in the region and new opportunities for others. While the world seems to be going under and countries economies are falling apart, a few countries in fact seem to be stable and are seen as to be safe countries for the future with strong economies. Those countries will be the Arctic countries as they already have access to natural resources and with the ice gone there will be more natural resources for the countries up north. And with the ice gone, the natural resources can be transported easier than now to other regions. Some are saying the new center of the world will be North Pole. This for some reason fascinates me at the same time it scares me. As everything in life it is good and bad.

The Truth Matters
Climate change deniers always like to say, "for every report that says it's happening, I can find a report that says it's not."
I challenge that statement. I don't think you can claim that anymore. I KNOW no one with any knowledge of climatology denies it.

Climate change happens every year and every season. Changes of temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind patterns, wind strength, etc. Not really a new discovery.
Another "projection"? The IPCC hasn't been able to prove their original "projections" over the last 20 years. Every "projection" they made has overshot the actual GLOBAL tempurature. At least they're consistant.
Does the warming of a particular area of the planet such as the Antarctic, Sahara, or Arctic desert prove that the entire planet is warming?
There are several times MORE polar bears today than there were in the 70's. How is it that the global warming/climate change zealots keep getting their facts wrong?

sushi- since you aren't doing too good a job changing minds here you should heed your own advice and be doing all you can to prevent global warming. Start by going offline. Put your money where your mouth is, mate.

And this is reflected in the taxes you pay on your property? No, I didn't think so.
