Job growth in Texas was spurred by military spending and gas/oil markets. Neither of which is Rick Perry responsible for. Too many people wandering around with eyes half open.

This will be like watching Kindergartners 'debating'. It's going to be quite laughable.

Sounds like you nonetheless intend to watch, but will again vote unicorns and hope and change and permanent 10 percent unemployment just the same.

Breitbart: "Sounds like you nonetheless intend to watch, but will again vote unicorns and hope and change and permanent 10 percent unemployment just the same."
The current unemployment rate is not something that happened overnight, it goes with the economy, which began seriously tanking under the last administration (more than ever). No, I won't watch the kids argue over who's got the better mud-pie or how much god wants them to win more than someone else, but I'll undoubtedly laugh when all the gaffes and silly comments are recapped. And fortunately for you, non-Americans cannot vote -- otherwise there would be no GOP to begin with, since non-Americans seem to know more about and what's better for the USA than Americans themselves.

Voting Republican is a vote for apostasy, lies, and the continued degradation of America. As much as they despise the current president, they have no plan whatsoever for the country.
I'll take "hope and change" over any Faustian bargain with the GOP.

When Bush supporters accuse Perry of being shallow, you've got to wonder. Something stinks in Texas (well, a lot of things do), and as the manure is dug out from around his so-called accomplishments, Lord knows what they'll find. Despite the fact that the man is far too extreme for the majority of Americans, he's got skeletons galore.

@yabits, you never, ever cease to amaze me. This admin. had control for almost 3 years of all 3 branches of government and what did they do? What do they have as far as real accomplishments to show for it? Except putting the country into deeper debt. And you honestly think the country seriously want to take a chance with this guy for another 4 years? Also, how can you say with a straight face that Rep. lie as if Dems never do. Granted, all politicians lie of exaggerate the truth at times, but this admin. almost wrote the book on lying if you really want to break it down. This President by far, is the worst President to ever have been elected to the White House.

Bass: The most the filibuster has been used when Democrats were in the minority was 58 times in the 106th Congress of 1999-2000. In the 2008-2009 Congress, Republicans filibustered an astounding 112 times. That is a record not only in terms of absolute number but in terms of percentage of bills brought to vote: 18%.
The Republican Senate minority is like a dysfunctional spouse: you know their reaction will be crazy, so you eventually just stop asking.

Oh, and bass, one more thing: the Judicial branch is officially non-partisan, though if pressed, I assume the would vote themselves 5-4 Republican. That is, after all, how Bush won his first term.

I envy my republican acquaintances. At least they are psyched about the election. I am tired of making excuses for Obama. He needs a challenger in the primary.

Right. Right. The same non-Americans who come here trying to defend Obama's miserably failed presidency as being "Bush's fault" know America so well they are completely oblivious to the fact that when Perry became governor of Texas, in 2000, he also "inherited a mess" from George W Bush.
But Perry, in sharp contrast to Obama, actually understands job and wealth creation.
WSJ:
I'm not completely sold on the guy yet, but I know two things about him that make him very appealing:
He is absolutely hated by trial lawyers, from the ambulance chasers on up to the fat cats in corporate law.
He terrifies the kumbaya conga line of one-world fantasists, in America and beyond out borders.

Breitbart: "they are completely oblivious to the fact that when Perry became governor of Texas, in 2000, he also "inherited a mess" from George W Bush."
It's great that you can finally admit how much of a disaster bush was and his ill-effects on the nation, but the reason you don't hear people talking about the mess Perry inherited is because there is enough fodder with his character and his radical laws/beliefs than anyone needs in pointing out how utterly WRONG the man is for the job, let alone to become president. Aside from the 'people can now carry concealed weapons to work' law passed the other day, plus hunting feral pigs from helicopters, and of course his take on homosexuality, some of the laws he just passed aren't that bad, but on the whole the guy's a loon. A step up from the even crazier Bachmann, I'll grant you, but that's like saying one turd stinks a bit less.
"He is absolutely hated by trial lawyers, from the ambulance chasers on up to the fat cats in corporate law."
I hear you on that one.
"He terrifies the kumbaya conga line of one-world fantasists, in America and beyond out borders."
And there's Breibart back to his normal, subjective self, with credibility back out the window. This is one of the reasons why we are so much well informed and better at seeing things for what they are than Americans such as yourself, and why we better know what's good for you than you do. :)

Gosh, I sure hope that he was actually recruited to first run for public office by the Democrats in Texas doesn't get out. Interesting article from the New York Times on his Democratic party days. Looks like he was a pretty popular Democrat then and was known for being fiscal conservative on the Democratic side. Much like "The Blue Dog's" Democratic congressmen we have today.
In 1984, fellow Democrats recruited Mr. Perry to run for a State House seat vacated by Representative Joe C. Hanna, according to interviews and news articles. John Sharp, a Democrat and the former state comptroller who was a college friend of Mr. Perry’s, recalls getting a call from Clyde H. Wells, then the chairman of the Texas A&M System Board of Regents. Mr. Wells wondered who might make a good replacement for Mr. Hanna.
“I said: ‘Yeah, there was a guy in my outfit who’s from Haskell. Let’s find out if he’s still in the Air Force,’ ” Mr. Sharp recalled saying of Mr. Perry. “Three weeks later, he was in the race.”
Mr. Perry easily won and quickly became known as a rising star in the Texas House.

Sailwind, Perry supported Al Gore's presidential bid in 2008. When asked about it now, he says that Gore has changed - become more liberal. The truth is clear: Gore has not changed, Perry has. Whether that change is born of consciousness or convenience is unclear, and regardless, it is only important as whether to judge whether he's an extremist by conviction or opportunity. What is important is that he IS an extremist and would do great damage to the United States if president.

USA Today Article
Finding work may not be quite that simple, but it sure seems that way. While the nation's job growth has limped along since the economic recovery began two years ago, the Lone Star State is enlarging payrolls in Texas-size fashion.
"From June 2009 to June 2011 the state added 262,000 jobs, or half the USA's 524,000 payroll gains, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Bureau of Labor Statistics,"
USA Today Article
Texas moved past New York over the past decade to become the nation's second-largest economy, according to a USA Today examination of data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
"Texas (GDP) notched one of the biggest increases in size in a half-century, surpassing $1 trillion in annual economic output,"
Kiplinger Article
Texas dominate’s Kiplinger’s Cities with the Lowest Cost of Living list in 2011, claiming five of the top 10 spots. Brownsville took the top spot followed by Fort Hood (#3), Sherman, (#5), Waco (#7), and Austin (#9).
Brookings Institute
Texas leads the nation with six cities - Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, McAllen, and San Antonio - on the top 20 Overall Strongest-Performing Metro Areas list in Brookings Institute’s "MetroMonitor" quarterly report.
Now that is some real change to believe in.

I'll take the great "extremist" damage he has wrought in Texas as noted by my post above to the national policy level any day of the week, over what the Obama administration has done on the job creation and economic front.

Texas was the fastest-growing state in the nation over the last decade, gaining 4.3 million people. This is probably due to the stability of jobs in the oil and government sectors, which spin off to jobs in the service sector. Just servicing 4.3 million new residents with their basic needs - school, basic services, etc. - accounts for a majority of the jobs gained. Let's not forget, though, that Texas leads the nation in minimum wage work and ties with Louisiana for percentage of uninsured. It also lags behind other states badly in education.
So this is what Perry has to run on: a booming population of underpaid and uninsured workers raising poorly educated children. And THAT is his vision for the future of America.

Rick Perry and Barack Obama both 'inherited' established credit ratings, and from the same guy:George W. Bush.
Perry raised his inherited credit rating to AAplus, from AA.
Barack Obama lowered his inherited credit rating from AAA to AAplus.

That means Texas has an economy almost the size of Canada's.

It called people voting with their feet.
Good for Texas, it means there are actual entry level jobs that are available and they are hiring. And it also means that people will move up from entry level work as they gain work experience. I worked at a grocery store bagging groceries as my first job and was paid the minimum wage. I don't consider that a bad thing and was grateful to be hired with no actual work experience as a young man at the time.

Barack Obama lowered his inherited credit rating from AAA to AAplus.
It was the tea party terrorists in the republican party that drove down the US credit rating by threatening to take the USA to default. Never ceases to amaze me when the republicans blame others for their own self made failures. Like with Steele called the failed war in Afganistan Obama's war. Its comical how the republicans are so out of touch with reality.

It called people voting with their feet during a time of skyrocketing living costs in metropolitan areas and stagnant employment figures: that was the eight years of the Bush presidency. A good friend of mine who moved there from California remarked that nobody moved to Texas because they want to; they did so out of necessity, being drawn to the low costs of the wide-open spaces which had not been sucked into the property bubble. Fortunately, my friend is a professional in the health field and so has not lacked for work; you might have enjoyed minimum wage as a teenager (and I know that I did, too), but try raising a family on it.
Palin in Iowa yesterday lambasted 'crony capitalism,' and most think she's targeting Perry. As I said above, there is much to be unearthed beneath all of that Texas manure.

It's getting to be that time again when I have to politely ask the foreigners to stop saying such things because it only pushes people more towards the Republicans. But I suppose you saw the satisfaction it brought Sushi and you just can't pass up on gettin' some yourself. Do it at your own risk. You're making things worse for Democrats.

So this is what Perry has to run on: a booming population of underpaid and uninsured workers raising poorly educated children. And THAT is his vision for the future of America.
At least Perry HAS created jobs, which is the main point. Take the emotion out of your argument. Perry debating Obama, that would be his worst nightmare. Perry DOES have something to show as a governor with slowing growing economy in the largest state in the union, business tax friendly, now compare that to Obama's job growth record over the last 3 years for the entire country, high taxes, record spending, record unemployment. Who do you think would come out smelling like a rose?

Yeah, Perry's worst nightmare.
How is it that a governor is somehow responsible for the job growth in his own state but the president is responsible for growth in the other 49? Texas's overall unemployment rate puts it somewhere in the middle of the pack of US states, with plenty of blue states led by Democratic governors well ahead of it.
A lot of Texas's job growth has come in the public sector, and Perry has taken loads of federal money offered by the Obama administration.
What's far worse is that as governor of Texas, Perry has overseen the execution of at least one innocent person -- which makes him a murderer in my book.

zurcronium, buddy
But but but Obama is da smartest guy ever. Smartest guy in any room, even in a White House one. He got himself bamboozled by a bunch of retired old white people with nuffin better to do than cling to their guns and religion? Some mean people, on the innernets, they even call him President Downgrade these days. Also, did those tea baggerists, those haters somehow find secret ways for to magically stimulate the economy down thar in Tex-ayass? Can you explain the contrast, son? How did that Mr Rick Perry win the Lone Star State an upgrade from S and P ?

That Obama won't even be close to a challenge, Perry should have no problem pointing out Obama's failed policies.
A lot of Texas's job growth has come in the public sector, and Perry has taken loads of federal money offered by the Obama administration.

Apparently, You didn't see the August jobs report? ZERO. The Presidents disapproval rating as of today is around 62%. Unemployment is 9.1% For African Americans Obama's main support, the unemployment rate is 16.7% So what is your point that Perry has overseen an execution who are you to say that the man was innocent. Were you there? Where you his lawyer? Seems like the justice system ran its course, so if the man was found guilty by his peers and he had his day in court, the system worked, you know we have the death penalty in the U.S. What about Bin Laden? Is Obama a murderer too for killing him? Dems are so worked up about Perry (...and rightfully so...) they are scrambling on how and what would be the best way to attack Perry. This admin is on the ropes and the only thing that they have in their arsenal of personal attacks are Bush, immigration and boring the people with rants about Green jobs, nothing new, all of the same. As I said, the proof is in the pudding. Perry has job creation in the state of Texas, low, friendly business tax rates, low unemployment, booming economy. Now compare that to Obama's record for the country overall. I don't even need to rant at how bad his job performance has been, these last couple of years. Your President his in serious doo doo, this is only getting worse. Perry is NO saint, don't get me wrong, but at least he has something to show for it.
