ASEAN backs China on Tibet issue

SINGAPORE —

China garnered the support of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on the Tibet issue during a meeting among senior foreign ministry officials from ASEAN, China, Japan and South Korea on Wednesday, a Singapore Foreign Ministry official said.

Chinese Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs He Yafei briefed ASEAN members on the issue during a meeting officials from ASEAN and the three East Asian countries, known as the ASEAN-plus-three meeting, in Singapore, said Peter Ho, permanent secretary in the ministry, who chaired the meeting.
