Without Iran's Quds Force and Lebanon's Iran-backed militia, the Hezbollah, Assad would have been gone long time ago!

Putin wrote a nice little speech for Assad. Must be going over well on the Russian news circuits.

Of course they have to; Syria is just another puppet of a different master. Middle East is full of puppets.

Another great example of Western meddling getting a great result.

Thank God for the Russians, lol.

Huh? JapanToday is a Russian news circuit? Oh, God, I must have missed this KGB operation, lol

SuperLib: Remember last month you were claiming Assad must be unhappy with the lack of support from Russia? Thankfully Russia has been supporting Assad all along, he's actually fighting extremist & terrorist, instead of just claiming to.

I'm sorry if I made you upset, Stuart. I'm sure Putin is a fine leader who deserves our support and respect.

Right? ;)

Bottom Line: Russia and Assad are no where's near as bad as ISIS.

We should work with them on this.

Burning Bush:

" The "uprising" against Assad is a Western Media fiction. Assad has the support of the majority of Syrians and his staying power is the proof. "

I don´t think it is that simple. He certainly has the support of the secular Syrians and of non-Sunni Syrians (not only the Allevites). But the majority of the Syrian population is Sunni, and among the Sunnis, the Muslim Brotherhood (which is a radical Sunni movement) has a lot of traction. Remember that the Brotherhood uprising against the secular Assad government goes back for decades. So I would not simply declare that he has the support of the majority. Demographics are not in his favour.

However, the tale that this is a democratic uprising against an evil dictator, that is a Western Media fiction which belongs to Hollywood (and Washington). We have seen how well that tale played out in "liberated" Iraq, Tunesia, and Libya.

The situation in Syria (like it was in Libya) is an islamist rebellion against a secular regime. And our Western governments, in their infinite wisdom, support the islamists. Go figure.

Assad made his own choices, including opening fire on peaceful protesters with Russia's weapons and support. They did it to themselves. I don't mind the U.S. assisting on humanitarian grounds, but let's not praise the idiots who set this in motion. It's entirely reasonable to help the people of Syria without legitimizing Assad.

You gotta give some credit to Assad, he's still there. If the majority of Syrians really wanted him out, he'd be out years ago. People there probably know he's a saint compared to the likes of the Islamic State.

< Lol, way to change the subject from what you said! I'm not upset at all but I am getting tired of the illusion that the US is actually trying to eliminate terrorism. All the escalation in the ME is only bringing greater wealth to the Military Industrial Complex, while all average citizens suffer. Though you are using deflection as a response, I'll bite. I've NEVER vouched for the moral character of Putin, but on this topic, I'm glad he's supporting Assad.

Well I'm happy that you are glad that a dictator is supporting another dictator. It's about time someone pushed aside the messy politics of government leaders and saw human beings as human beings.
