...that is so disgusting. My prayers go out to the families of the victims. I'm glad they caught this man.

It is appalling that the media focus on the fact that he was a sex offender. Most sex offenders are not murderers and not at all like this lunatic. Most sex offenders are probably guilty of date rape, although I can say with certainty that most don't even repeat that crime or any other.
Its a shame that this loon was not caught sooner, but what can you really do? It sounds like there were lots of clues that something was wrong. It was just that no one figured it out.

Yeah, being a sex offender kinda pales in comparison when you've killed 11 people...

Its disgusting. Is it me, or are these crimes happening more and more?
Between this and the last dozen in the past few weeks, its just driving me crazy. What do we have to do, walk our kids on leashes? One crime should be more then enough to lock someone up for life or give them death for such crimes or even castration.
I can't see trying to use reformation of these guys - it just ain't working. 11 women and the guy had just got release a few years before?

Skip, the recidivist rate for every crime is a great deal lower than the rate of those who offend once and never again.
It might appear that way if you thought the news industry was supposed to educate you. This case is about as freaky as they get. He is way way off the norm and his case teaches us nothing about the norm.
The system works pretty well. But its faults might lie in being too harsh. Remember, this guy was not a killer until he got busted. He might have started killing his victims so as to avoid going to jail again and heightened fear of being caught thanks to the sex offender registry and frequent visits by police. In fact, those things might have guaranteed he never have a normal sex life either.
The answer is not always more punishment. But I will agree that this guy is not worth the risk trying to reform now.
