They should install seat belts on high-speed trains.

I live in the town next to the accident and was in the train before the ones that collided. So it is a really big shock to me.

This needs to be corrected in the article: It is not king Baudouin, he passed away years ago. Albert II is the ruling king now.

@chotto: It were no high speed trains, it were inter City trains that do not run that fast.

Try not to ride the front car of any train - lest you be the first to go in a head-on or a derailment.

@sarcasnm123 - I fail to see what is funny here. It was a tragic accident.

chotto, the injuries were not busted lips and bruised foreheads from a fender bender. Cars and engines were ripped apart and thrown from the tracks, seat belts would have not done much to save the dead.

Investigators will be wanting to find the red-light-jumping train driver's mobile phone, I bet.

The dead are dead now, RIP, and heartfelt sympathies to the families, but the suffering of the injured will be horrendous.

It is not the speed per say but the mass behind the momentum. u ain't gonna stop no huge mass of trains.
