[Militant fighters streaming from a village and a mosque attacked a pair of remote outposts near the Pakistan border] --- From a mosque ne? Well maybe some of these "Mosques" should be taken out to not provide shelter for them.

This makes me mad and was just as i predicted months ago. Obama`s cuts in military spending, leaving them with poor protection will lead to more of these deaths and probably loss in Afghanistan.
We need a strong leader willing to use our most powerfull weapons against the evil doers. That is the only way to win, but this lame duck President doesn`t have the stomach for it.

Until October 1st, the troops were dealing with a budget that was signed by president bush. None of the proposed cuts in funding would have taken place until three days ago. Do you honestly believe 3 days of funding has had a significant impact on military operations in Afghanistan? Just think about that for a sec.
I can understand your anger. When we lose one of Soldiers or Marines, it hurts me too. But we've got to keep our wits about us.
My condolences to the families.

Obama has been in office for 10 months. I expect to see more from him on Afghanistan.

It's time for President Obama to stop stalling and approve Gen. McChrystle's request for additional troops and resources. This particular event cannot be placed on Obama but down the line it will be if he doesn't implement the strategy he spelled out in the Spring and the advice of his hand-picked General. We have been hearing for years from Liberals and Obama that Afghanistan is a war of necessity and the good war. Well, get on with it already. Indecisiveness will only make things harder to turn around later on (see President Bush's delay in making the change in favor of General Petreus' counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq).

To be fair Dick, whatever cuts Obama has implemented in the military have little or nothing to do with this. His lack of attention to Afghanistan however, that might have contributed to this. I do think we either need to fish or cut bait, as the saying goes. Either build up sufficient forces to protect the people in Afghanistan so they'll feel safe against the Taliban, or get out and leave them to the tender loving mercies of the extremists. Its either or.
To be honest, I'm kind of torn on the subject. Part of me says no, kill the Taliban, fight em till they run screaming and crying for their mommies, who they've likely already murdered for daring to have an independent thought. Another part of me says, who cares what the people do to each other there. They're all a bunch of Muslim nutcases anyway.

The troops that were approved earlier this year are now just getting deployed. Even if Obama had signed off on more troops going Afghanistan yesterday it'll take months before they ever start getting into country.
This base was in the process of closing camp and getting the hell out and moving back. They had already packed up and waiting to go.
I heard that these militants were local militias that banded together to attack the US because they were tired of the occupation. < :-)
