If it ever DOES stabilize in the future, which I doubt, it will be a long and bloody path towards said stability. It's far more probably, sadly, that they will regress into tribal warfare and a dictator will take over, eradicate the 'enemy', etc.

Let's hope I'm wrong... but if history is any indicator...

Not true. It has worked and does work as much as it doesn't work in some cases like Iraq. It's case by case.

USN - which successful cases did you have in mind?

Even Japan after the war and two niclear vlazsts when the allies rolled in much of the administration was in place....

The US is supposed to reduce its troop numbers down to 50 000 by the end of August. I wonder if they'll use this extra violence to rethink that deadline.
