If it ever DOES stabilize in the future, which I doubt, it will be a long and bloody path towards said stability. It's far more probably, sadly, that they will regress into tribal warfare and a dictator will take over, eradicate the 'enemy', etc.
Let's hope I'm wrong... but if history is any indicator...

It will never stop and was never meant to be. Watch what happens after America totally leaves.

The Americans really need to understand that you can't simply role into a country and enforce democracy and peace.

Not true. It has worked and does work as much as it doesn't work in some cases like Iraq. It's case by case.

"Foreign occupation is responsible all such blood shed"
I guess so - even sarge was admitting as much the other day as ultimate decision making is being proposed to be passed on to religious shiite beardie- blokes. Who'd a thunk it?
USN - which successful cases did you have in mind?
Even Japan after the war and two niclear vlazsts when the allies rolled in much of the administration was in place....
The bone-headed, gung-ho, world-class incompetence of Bush Co's post-war "planning" are the root of the Iraqi bloodbath.

The US is supposed to reduce its troop numbers down to 50 000 by the end of August. I wonder if they'll use this extra violence to rethink that deadline.
