"They have been less successful in integrating into Australian society than many other groups,"

I don't understand why people go to reside in societies they don't like or respect.

Radical Islam is the religion of "they have more than us so let's kill them."

Unfortunately I don't see this kind of problem dying off anytime soon.

The war on terror started in 2001 has just made everything 2001 times worse. Every time there's new conflict, a new bad guy worse than the one before rears his ugly head.

Radical islam needs to be silenced by moderate muslims. Not by western powers.

It's unfortunate that given the number of muslims living in Western countries, as well as those in more moderate states such as the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia etc don't show more of a willingness to speak out or act out in disgust at the likes of IS.

With IS committing more and more shocking acts, lets hope the moderates start speaking out more than have until now. Luckily there seems to be signs it's starting to happen. Lets hope it gains momentum and becomes the norm.

Radical Islam is the religion of "they have more than us so let's kill them."

Does this explain why the ideology is most fertile in Saudi Arabia?

To reduce radical Islam to nothing more than inequality seriously underestimates the threat. It is not one that can be bought out with money - any more than you can persuade the Amish to join modern society with an offer of a light bulb. This is an ideology, a way of life and death.

Australia is a nice country but unfortunately, being "too nice" can then be ABUSED by bad, evil, messed up in the head types like Al Qaeda, ISIS etc...and do not forget, Australia maybe "really far" from the Middle East, but right north of Australia is INDONESIA, the world's most populous MUSLIM nation on the face of the earth, then Malaysia etc...it is a very short flight from say Jakarta to Australia and easy for say lone wolf type terrorist to pretend they are on vacation up in Indonesia and go off to Australia for the weekend and...get the picture???

The biggest reason integration fails in western societies is because Islamic ideology has too many teachings against integrating and adapting to "infidels". It teaches more about converting and subverting societies to the Islamic way of life, instead of adapting to the society of the nation they immigrate to. It can only be changed from the inside, and Islam is long overdue for reform. It's literally centuries behind the majority of other major religions.

Reminds me of how many stories I hear about a woman or man attempting to marry someone of Islamic faith and being told they have to convert to being muslim before they can marry them. Other religions have attempted to do this but in this day and age many ignore such demands placed on them by fanaticists and get married any ways without placing such demands on their intended spouse (because there are laws against forceful coercion in religion in many western nations).

My mother had to convert from Church of England to Catholicism to marry my father.

Ironically, my wife had to convert from Buddhism/Shintoism to Church of England to marry me. She refused, so we're unmarried in the eyes of the Church.

It's seriously time to reconsider immigration policies.

I'm all for immigration (at home - Japan will never allow it), and I don't care where the people come from or what their religion is. But it has to benefit the country.

Skilled workers? Great!

Non-English speaking, non-educated people that will need $$$$ of tax payers support and pay very little tax in return? No thanks.

That second condition would naturally rule out a lot of the hardline muslims. But if there are muslims that are skilled workers and will contribute to society, great!

The problem with immigration is we're just saying yes to everyone. Taking whoever throws themselves at us. And for what? So we can sleep better at night for giving them a safer environment to live in? Well, newsflash! As recently as 70 years ago all Western countries were at war. The biggest war in history. Before that there was WW1, and before that countless others.

We fought hard for our peace. Perhaps instead of fleeing to the nearest safe haven and waiting for their country to miraculously fix itself, they should stay and be a part of the fixing?

Seeing so many hardline muslims in Europe calling for Sharia Law in England, France, Germany and Holland, its ridiculous! If they want to live under Sharia Law, be my guest - get a one-way ticket to somewhere that already does.

Unfortunately that will be like the Catholic church against Protestant. It will just develop another school. We already have this with Sunni vs Shia which had been root cause of many wars.

In a sense IS is doing western nations a favour. It has flushed out these Muslim radicals and exposed a big threat.

Yeah, but over time, the moderates will hopefully win out - as those in each Christian sect did in the West.

It is true, the fruits do not fall far away from the trees and its roots. Besides, Australia has lot of works to do in bringing them into mainstream of society. Regardless, the ego of identity and Islamic supremacy entice these immigrants to pursue radical agenda against the hands who feed them. Liberals see them as victims out of own ignorant of Islamo fascism indoctrinated. ISLAM needs REFORMATION, and neither Caliphate nor wars will benefit them.
