Can someone turn this heat down? Over 40 now and still climbing. :(

Thankfully, despite being in one of the "catastrophic fire danger" areas, the winds have died down and it looks like at least my area should escape the worst of it (though I still have all my important belongings packed up and loaded in the car). Things should cool overnight, but according to the forecasts, we'll go through it all again on Saturday.

The BOM are reporting that the "dome of heat" covering most of Australia is now at such high temperatures that they've had to add new colours to the temperature map so as to represent the current conditions accurately... and they're reporting that temperatures are still expected to rise further. All I can say is thank goodness global warming is a myth. We're already hitting records for highest average temperatures. Imagine how much hotter it would be if global warming were real?

Yowza. While I appreciated that the very hot temperatures in Australia were dry by comparison to the disgusting humidity of summers here, I remember stepping out into the blinding sun and in minutes thinking I migh get sunstroke. And of course the dryness is the biggest problem with these fires.

Take care, peeps, and good luck to all those fighting the fires. Let's hope it rains soon.
