I don't think a tax is really going to go over well, or that it's the best solution.

I'm sure the people of Melbourne are happy to pay an extra tax to give to the people in Brisbane who built their homes on the flood plane.

Typical stupid Gillard decission, that woman has peanut for brains. Typical when in doubt tax the people leader at her finest......
Most people including the opposition, business and everyday people seem to be against the idea, instead they are calling for cuts elsewhere to raise the money but that all seems to hard for our dimwitted leader.
And yes l dont really like her

I propose Australia follows the American post-disaster model: slash taxes, tell everyone to go shopping, invade another country, then get your largest creditors to foot the bill for it. Yeah, that's sure to work. PM Gillard can thank me later. :-)

Banks refused to pay for flood damages ( through insurance) and people have to dig a little bit deeper to pay for it,its OK. Nobody will feel any pain, only better for helping ...and thanks heaven for Gillard not to chose SushiSake3's suggestion :-).
