I bet the reality of being a "jihadi bride" is pretty grim.

I bet the reality of being a "jihadi bride" is pretty grim.

Cook, cleaner, punching bag and baby dispenser. Assuming they're still happily married and not stoned to death for adultery if hubby wants a better model.

An estimated 550 women from across Europe have also travelled to join the jihadists and Bishop said Australia was working with Muslim communities to highlight the risks.

That number seems shockingly low, and then it seems shockingly high.

I understand that many women want a man just back from the combat zone. In this case, though, the women are heading in to the combat zone. Not too smart, if you ask me.

Makes one wonder how bad or boring home life must be if a young woman living in australia sees life in an arid, bombed out war zone catering to the domestic and carnal needs of a fanatical jihadi as a better option.

If they are being forced to go they should make it known to immigration at the airport. If they go willingly then they should hand in their passports and not come back. The only thing Australian about these women and men is the word printed in their passport. As an Australian I would prefer them out of the social service system, out of the country and out of the national gene pool.

@Rik

"The only thing Australian women and men is... their passport."

I'm curious.... Which aboriginal tribe do you belong to?

What is frightening is that there are actually people who need this explained to them.

"Australian women are heading to Iraq and Syria to become so-called Islamic State group “jihadi brides”,

Unbelievable.

Before their jihadi get away . . .

"Sarah, going jihadi bride?" "You bet, they beat and rape women and children as young as ten!" "Yeah, I know, and that beheading and burning blokes alive in cages? Bitch'in!"

At the airport . . .

"And the purpose of your trip?" "Jihadi bride" Expected date of return?" "Never."

Romantic as in the sense of "doomed romance" because every single one of the scumbags joining ISIS will either be killed or imprisoned in the not too distant future. These women are vulnerable, deluded, misled or psychotic.

And who kick started that nasty civil war in Syria? That is the point.

@SenseNotSoCommon It is not a point of the color bar but one of acceptable values and beliefs. These people are eager to join a terrorist group that subjugates half of humanity based on gender and has no qualms about beheading innocent people and I could go on. I'm saying if they don't want to be in a country that values universal freedoms and equality then they are welcome to leave and not return.

"A worrying number of Australian women are heading to Iraq and Syria to become so-called Islamic State group “jihadi brides”

“This defies logic"

It certainly does.
