You'd never see a banker or hedge-fund manager do that to their staff. The greed is too deeply embedded now...

Nice to see this kind of generosity, restores my faith in humanity. After the first 6 or 7 million..... doesnt the rest have little impact on those recieving huge packages? Whereas what he gave the ground staff im sure made a very big difference for them.

This was a local bus company in the area where I lived. I agree with y3chome, it restores my faith in humanity, to a certain extent too.

Now these workers will definitely contribute to economy growth (positively) ! Japan should learn how to keep economy 'alive!'

This is commitment from above. These workers are really treated as the treasures that they are. The consequence is complete loyalty...
In a universe, far, far away the secret of the success of Japanese companies was of that kind - but I guess Star Wars universe and the like are far closer to the world we live in. This act of kindness enriches the days of all those who read it. Thanks for printing this nice story!

Sounds like Melbourne bus staff are friendlier than Sydney's.

This was a nice gesture on the part of the outgoing owner. He's managed to assuage any fears about the buy-out that his former employees might of had. By this one act, he's told them that he hasn't forgotten all the hard work they've put into the company. When you think about it, the reason he could sell the company for such a nice profit had almost nothing to do with him and almost everything to do with his employees. They're the ones who gave his company value.

That's a first class good deed by this fellow. Can't say much more than that.

The Truth Matters
This would never happen with an IPO. The world needs more family run businesses.

Look around at those billionairs with huge houses and money to burn everywhere flying around in private planes but not a spare dime to give to their employees.

@Jack - Hey, those billionaires are creating jobs for others with those huge houses and spending all that money! Why, it would be selfish of the billionaires' employees to want all the money for themselves!
But wait! Maybe not! If the billionaires' employees spent all the extra bonus money, they would create as many jobs for others, wouldn't they!
