The article states the use of Interpol. It will be interesting to see if there are other countries taking the same steps to wipe out this disgusting form of internet abuse.
There is no way 12 million people visited the site to get child porn. The majority was probably redirected to the site when they searched for Britney Spears or John McCain or something completely innocent like topless girls.

I agree. Try searching for "Naked (Enter celebrity first name)" and lots of times there is a lot of suspicious material in the results. Such as, "Naked 12y old Britney".
Arresting all 12 million of these people without fair judgement, would be like the case of my friend who is a registered sex offender. Why? He got drunk and got caught taking a piss under a highway. Indecent Exposure -sex offender watchlist.
I guess he sexually offended some coyotes out there in the Arizona desert.
all countries need to increase the penalties for such sick crimes.. perhaps life in jail, castration, or even capital punishment.

Instead of looking for the real perverts, they are putting people who just turned 18 and their long time girl friend is 17 in jail or registering them as sex offenders..
What I am talking about is the guys who knowingly download and look at kiddy porn.
It's not 12 million people, but 12 million "hits". Hits in case might be each and every accessed file was counted, a common way of gathering simple statistics from server logs.
Its amazing how articles unrelated to Japan somehow are made related. This story is about a child porn sweep in AUSTRALIA and some trolls on this forum take the opportunity to bash on JAPAN'S child porn problem. There wasn't a single reference to JAPAN in the entire article...
Himasan, You've got a point. I also bet Japan, the U.S., Britain, China, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and South Korea was one of them.

You mean enforce a law with child porn being illegal, and take out the silly loopholes they have?
