As someone who would be prone to shoot commanders and other assorted idiots if I were ever shanghied into a war, I have to wonder if this murder was not justified. Better just about any soldier than me, that is what I say. Mind you, if I missed the chance to take out the person or persons who shanghied me, I will protect my own for the most part, but as soon as somebody does something such as murder civilians and POWs, order me to commit a war crime, or risk my life unnecessarily, they better make sure they are not backlogged on prayers because they may not get the chance to catch up.

If only all males thought likewise, these stupid wars could not even happen.

Officials said they did not want to say more about Langdon in case it jeopardized the chances of reducing the sentence, or hurt his plans to appeal to Afghanistan’s supreme court

Gives us readers a glimpse into Afghanistan's justice system. Langdon's conviction in a lower court was upheld in the appeals court -- and now he's taking it to their Supreme Court.

Personally, I am opposed to the death penalty, and so I hope his sentence will be commuted. But there isn't anyone who can make the case that Langdon and the Afghans have not received justice out of this affair.

I’m not sure this is as simple as it looks, a death sentences might just be better than a life sentence in an Afghan prison. Given the choice I would go for the death sentence. One other point would be to ask why it is that Taliban murderers don’t get death sentences?

grafton; Because they are worried about retribution from the beastly Taliban love.

"Australian does not have the death penalty"

That means Australian taxpayers must pay for the food, housing, clothing and medical care for murderers until they die.
