The Taliban and sensibility just dont go together. These guys live in caves yet in captivity they are objecting to the standard of accommodation.

Awwwww. I fweel so sorry for those poor, poor Taliban fellers.

    Ahyhoos, like I always says:

Aussies are just the little America in the South Pacific.

  • neverknow2 at 02:38 PM JST - 3rd September

True Little America. Hopefully they can pull out of America's Wars very soon! Fingers crossed!!!

Well, I can't say any part of me is bleeding for the Taliban. I was watching a program about the French forces there last night, and they really do fight dirty.

No wonder so many civilians are killed with the Taliban purposely hiding amongst them because they know NATO forces want to avoid these casualties. Bollocks to Australian Muslim rights groups.

[Australian Muslim groups have expressed shock and outrage at the alleged prisoner mistreatment,] And the heck with that poor dead Aussie soldier? Did they raise a stink about who killed him? These hypocrites will have their concerns fall on deaf ears in Australia and here as it should be.

BTW, by the sounds of it, in alleged 'dog pens'.

  • SpecialReportUS at 04:40 PM JST - 3rd September

bushlover; Great post dude. What do the enemy want, torture and beheading, the way they treat prisoners?

this will blow over, just another way to try to make the good guys look bad.

  • bushlover at 04:46 PM JST - 3rd September

Yes. I respect muslims, the ones like the 'christian' I am, But I do NOT respect 'groups' who all have an agenda and any of a religious nature are usually fraudulent and hypocritical. These groups should support the troops of the country they so choose to be a part of. Hypocrites!!

  • dammit at 04:55 PM JST - 3rd September

‘‘cultural misunderstanding.’’? They think Muslims are dogs, and that's a cultural misunderstanding? Amazing.

Just in case anyone here didn't notice, it states quite clearly that the people incarcerated were

    Four suspected Taliban militants

It doesn't make any claim that they were ever actually proven to be militants of any sort. But I know that people on here never want to know about such minor details.

And yes, the murder of an Australian soldier was outrageous, although I'm not entirely sure whether they're actually at war these days, in which case it wouldn't actually be a crime as such for one side to kill someone on the other side. With all these wars and unrests going on it gets a tad confusing for those without the patience to stop and unravel all Bush's wars.

But I know that people on here never want to know about such minor details." No, actually just the opposite man. You just contradicted yourself. You are doing exactly what you are accusing others of.

[Australian Muslim groups have expressed shock and outrage at the alleged prisoner mistreatment,] And the heck with that poor dead Aussie soldier?" I am telling you. These groups have expressed more shock and outrage than the Germans, Japanese, and Vietnamese combined. If you have proof, please show it, but to date, I have yet to see these "groups" protesting anything their kind have done, including the Taliban yet there were thousands fighting them day in and day out before the war even started.. Never seen these groups protesting cutting heads of infidels off nor Christian girls.. Nor the laws and rules requiring Hindus to wear an identity label on their clothing to distinguish them from Muslims. Nope, no one else matters. Oh, for the Aussie soldier, hey, they could careless...

TALIBAN TROOPS UNDER FIRE FOR EXISTING

  • rjd_jr at 09:09 PM JST - 3rd September

It's absolutely irrelevant how the Taliban treats women or other people. What's relevant is that civilized nations treat its prisoners of wars with some measure of decency. If not, then the moral high ground is lost.

    Honor culling.

As JT's foremost champion of multiculturalism let me be the first to say we really have, you know, no right to pass judgment on these Australians.

They got their own ways of dealing with things.

Three cheers for the Aussies but maybe the dog pens are too good for them. I hope the Australian government stands up to the Islamic groups at home otherwise in a few more generations they can look forward to Sydney burning every few years the way Paris does.
