It surprises me that after all the big disagreements on policy between Labor and Liberals, it finally came down which party had the better national braodband scheme. A lot of seats were lost because both parties didn't address environmental issues enough so that the Green Party got a few extra seats as a result, meaning both parties missed out on a majority by 4 seats each. The the independents came in and listened to the pitch from both parties to decidewho to support and it came down to the type of broadband network envisioned for the nation. Well, with the billions of dollars from the new mining tax no longer going into the pockets of overseas investors, they should be able to pay for it at least....about time the nation benefited more for digging up the resources we got and selling it overseas.

3 months more like. Back to the polls it is by end year.

We now have an unholy alliance of Labor, Greens and right wing independents (both of whom will be thrown out at the next election).

Look at the Green's manifest and think. They are f....g communists may well be your conclusion. If not keep smoking the stuff in Roppongi.

Why are there no nails in a Green members bed...all tongue and groove! And they took Ms Rice's Jag off her...where's the right of freedom of expression gone.

My old friend Tony Windsor has definitely been smoking some strange stuff.

The best punishment for all would be for Oakeshott to appointed Speaker. His love of his own whining nasal voice would be just desserts for all who chose to inhabit the unholy cesspit in downtown Canberra.

And as an afterthought, Colin Barnett should start sending all the asylum seekers to Canberra to camp out in front of Plt Hse.

Time for all good Sand Gropers to stand up and secede from the festering septic tank of the eastern seaboard.

    One country...forget it!

LongtimeResident. Nice rant there. I am impressed. You dish it out without fear or favor. Since I am not an aussie, I don't really understand it all, but it sounds good with an accent and a gravelly voice.

    And a big finish too.

I found it interesting that the whole minority government problem was settled without another election. Pretty darn civilized.

So what does all this mean for Japan, especially vis-a-vis natural resources, language programs, and our cetacean cousins, otherwise known as 'the new lunch meat'?

lol. Well, nothing good for Japan here. At least not from a whaling perspective. Not with the Greens involved in the coalition.
