The party’s subsequent inclusion in the government led to months of European Union sanctions as Haider’s statements were seen as anti-Semitic or sympathetic to Adolf Hitler’s labor policies.
Labor policy? You have got to be kidding me!
I suppose if Adolf Hitler once ate corn flakes, then eating corn flakes must be evil. And since all Nazis had noses, I suppose we should all cut off ours! And we had best avoid their sewage policy too no matter how effecient it might have been. --Cirroc
CavemanLawyer: There is a big difference between eating corn flakes and instituting totalitarian and racist labor policies. Haider knew what he was doing when offered more than faint praise for the Third Reich. As a driver I have a natural sympathy for anyone who dies in a car wreck; but I will not miss the man.
The "antisemitic" accusations about Haider are basically smears. His party (the FPÖ) advocates a control on immigration. And rampant immigration into Austria is not from Israel.
The big elephant in the room that everybody tries not to mention is of of course islam. Immigrants from other countries can and do integrate. The huge problems with non-integration, crime, and load on the welfare systems comes from non-integrated (and arguably non-integratable) muslim immigrants from North Africa etc.
What a tragedy for Europe. He will be missed, but we must appreciate what he did for Europe. He was the first European populist to break through the Euro-socialist ceiling and get into a national government. Even the old guard like Le Pen are in his debt.
Looks like the guy's only crime was that he was European and not the leader of Iran. Too bad....he would have been a very popular Iranian leader for global liberals.
There is NOTHING antisemitic in his FPÖ party platform. How ironic that the nazi smears are lobbed against someone who wants to stop the rampant islamic immigration into Europe -- an ideology that is antisemitic to the core.
To read vile neonazi propaganda of the worst sort, all you need to do is visit radical islamic sites like "Radio Islam". But not peep in the media about that.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Haider.
