Though he did not blame the regime directly, Ban said U.N. experts will confirm in a report released next week that chemical weapons were used in an attack near Damascus that left hundreds dead.

The report will not be all that helpful if all it does is confirm that chemical weapons were used and not confirm who used them.

Conference of peace with the Russian of Syria crisis? Oh please, it seems like a tactical moves for certain. How about lashing out at N.Korea since Mr. Ban K. Moon is so familiar with? U.N. is such a waste land full of ugly fat cats.

Chemical weapons, like nuclear weapons, can be traced - weapons are not all made the same way (good forensics can tell them apart) and not just anybody can make 'em, it takes much knowledge and special equipment (otherwise, terrorists would've been making it instead of trying to steal it). For instance, Russia has their own way, and since Syria likely learned it from their ally Russia, they can check if the chemical weapons have the tell-tale signs of Russia.

But even then, it's also possible that the chemical weapons were stolen off Assad's stockpiles, and some rebel defectors from Assad's military with the special knowledge how to detonate it. Then again, Assad has never mentioned anything this important being stolen (and it's not easy to steal something this important) nor about military defectors with special knowledge. So it'd have to be from other source.

Actually US and Russia have agreed already a plan to eliminate Syria's chemical weapons by 2014. Putin taught Obama a politics and diplomacy lesson.

The nerve gas was crudely made most likely on site so it couldn't be traced back to a chemical manufacturer. May even just be chlorine gas --> easiest to make. Russia did a full report on it.

Anyway I am happy Obama backed down and hopefully he will back away from sending or supporting his terrorists in Syria. The people of Syria have suffered enough already.
