Bangladesh's war of independence from Pakistan was ugly. 'West Pakistan's' brutality is well documented.

But given the political infighting between Bangladesh's rival ruling factions, which has been going on since the un-civil war, it's hard to think justice was the sole motivation for these executions.

It's been almost 50 years since the two 'Pakistans' split and almost 70 years since partition, but Pakistan and Bangladesh still look like a mess.

Both countries have received and continue to receive huge amounts of foreign aid, but still the best hopes for many people living in those countries is menial work in one of the Arabian Gulf countries, while their leaders skim aid money and live lavish lifestyles.
