I love riding bike in big cities. Total rush. Tokyo, Yokohama and Yokosuka were all fun cities to ride in.

Keep all non-commercial vehicles, i.e. private cars, either rental or otherwise, out of the area. Anyone, such as this writer, who has visited many European cities knows the congestion on the narrow, randomly organized streets. Tourism is extremely important in any city, and wandering vehicles with dazed drivers should not be allowed on the streets. Businesses in the area will flourish if people can just find a place to park, get out and spend some money. Fortunately, most large European cities as well as in Japan have rapid transit to meet the need of tourists as well as local citizens. Don't follow the Los Angeles, California, model of 10 lanes in one directions!

"Traffic circles"? Has the writer never heard of roundabouts?
