The attacker rode a motorbike to the scene, and the 30 people killed included military personnel, Rawalpindi police chief Rao Iqbal said.
Any group who can inspire people to sacrifice their own lives in order to take out military targets is a force to be respected and reckoned with. Calling them "scum" is nothing but whiny hand-wringing.
The Pakistanis and U.S. forces in the region are using sledgehammers to try and swat mosquitoes.
You'd have to "respect the force" of a guy who caps 15 people in a shopping mall in Ohio, too. But he's still scum.

Great. Mind if we give a little air time to the terrorist who just blew some people up? You can get back to your regularly scheduled program right after.

If the 15 people were military-types who occupied the mall through violence, and the "guy" who took them out did so at the cost of his own life, you would still probably call him "scum." But he's a hero and an exemplar to those who are opposed to what that military represents to his community. Anyone with more than an inkling of understanding of the history of the Pakistani central government's oppressive behavior in the region would have a clue.
And to the non-military victims of the blast, the U.S. might call them "collateral damage."

That's nice. To me he is scum. Does that still bother you?
That's nice, but I don't represent the US government and their point of view isn't being expressed here. Just who are you talking to?
