I read the Kevin Weeks autobio. Bulgar was absolute havoc when I was a kid on the Boston working class. I mean these guys would walk into a steak joint in broad daylight and whack a dude. You did not pay up- he had his guys beat you- still did not pay up he laid you down or put you in a trunk. A true sociopath. On that note he was like the geezer beantown version of Tony Soprano. But even Tony took care of his kids and had values. I am glad they nailed him and have no idea why they did not try the ad campaign 10 or 15 years ago. Guy who tipped the Feds has a nice pay day coming. My advice... don't put a gangsters childhood mate in charge of building a RICO case (JC)... and if you go on the lam-leave the country.

Bulgar is 81 years old and has been living comfortably on the run for 16 years. The trial is going to take forever and he may very well die before it's over.

passing himself off as just another elderly retiree, albeit one who kept a .357 Magnum and more than 100 rounds of ammunition in his modest apartment

Considering .357 ammo comes in boxes of 25 and 50 rounds, and how cheap it is, that isn't really that impressive. Then again, we're talking about the mob not a gang.
