Well it's not like anyone here was expecting you to talk about Mugabe. ;) But out of sheer curiosity, is your blanket ban on discussion Mugabe due to a lack of knowledge or lack of interest? That's really the only question we haven't answered yet.
Hi folks - 'tis I your old pal 111774.
On Zimbabwe, as only Zimbabweans and Rhodesians know, if you're not one of us it is safer to stay out of discussions on the country. No offense meant but this applies to GWB too.
The crises in Zimbabwe are as Mugabe says they are, "intentionally made to get him out of the way". The only people who don't know this are posters on this article and maybe Collin Powell and his bunch.
The UN can't find an envoy who is dumb enough to walk into Africa and demand Mugabe leave - Mugabe will show him or her the edvidence that his economy was intentionally destroyed through a plot that was drafted by the economists in Standard Bank of South Africa in October 1997!
Mugabe will also show that Chissano was bribed into the plot - given cash and membership of Mozambique into the British Commonwealth. This may explain why Portugal was more than glad to bring Mugabe to Lisbon last December even though Gordan Brown was threatening to stay-away. Portugal is still fuming at Britain for 'taking' Mozambique.
Mugabe can also show that from 1995 through 1997 he was repeatedly being asked by the white business owners - farmers, miners too, to get rid of Morgan Tsvangirai who was persistently calling for black ownership of all businesses in Zimbabwe. The man led wild cat strikes that were literally leading white business men to plead to Mugabe to silence him. Just google "Tsvangirai zimbabwe trade union" and see what you wake from the dead.
In brief, my country is a nation of two-timing, double-crossing, liars. Every Zimbabwean knows the story behind Mugabe. And it's starting to look wrong when they can let guys like Dubya offer their tapence worth on the so called abuse we're suffering. Hell Zimbabweans have been the biggest players in this entire charade. Black, Brown and White...
Politics is 100% corrupt... Money, greed, and power. It only gets dealt with once its out of control and the whole world can see it... then there is a change.
Bush is both and idiot and a puppet controled by rich greedy individuals and Mugabee is just greedy and would have some people on his payroll to keep him in power.
And no Africans are not weak... if they vote for the wrong party they are beat and even killed!
Hmmm I don't know who to trust in this world anymore...
At least bush and mugabe have something in common. And to the posters that defend this similarity, thank whoever you wish that bush co haven´t had mugabe´s length of office to attain a parallel "achievement" in failed "leadership".
Everton2: Wrong. The Rhodesians were the white inhabitants of Rhodesia. Other races were not citizens. They are a nation without a country.
Even as some still reside in Zimbabwe they continue to swear alligence to their Rhodesian flag (hence their constant visits to London whenever they feel Mugabe is unbecoming ie see Rhodesian Statute Law: African Husbandry Act 1923 - which covers the status of a black person in the country.
And since Zimbabwe was forced to continue the law of Rhodesia as its own in Nov 1979 (Lancaster House) it shouldn't be too difficult to understand that Zimbabwe is a country of two nations - Rhodesians (whose existence and so-called way of life was guaranteed in the agreement) and the black nation of Zimbabwe. I, as brown, by the law of the land am not a citizen.
unscrejects Your are a piece of work, typical of those white so called Rhodesians longing for the the return of minority rule in Africa. Whatever spin you may put on it Rhodesia has been dispatched to the scrapheap of history with the blood of thousand of black Zimbabweans on their hands never to return. It is white Rhodesians under Ian Smith refusal to concede to democracy that gave rise and legitimacy to an idiot like Mugabe.
No sir, you're not reading me. I'm not white - I'm one of those they classified as "illegal being" (the product og unlawful carnal knowledge between a European male and an African female).
I am "persona non grata" since March 1988 - kicked out by white police officers because I decided to go to college in the US (according to 'Rhodesian law' education for my kind was limited to a rudimentry secondary school level).
Requests for my extradition to Zimbabwe have been filed with the US, Japan, Britain and through Interpol...
Sir, I dream of no such return to the evil of Rhodesia. In fact the problem with the land I was unfortunately born in is that people like yourself tend to see it through rose tinted windows. You see a Zimbabwe that does not exist and never has. We in fact have been a very very divided people since 1896.
And for your information Mugabe is far from being the 'idiot' you refer to. Your apparant rudeness is a common problem for black Zimbabweans. All the information you receive comes out of the very mouths of parties who for the past 28 years have seen to it that ZImbabwean sovereignty remains only theoretical - Reuters (vast business interests in Zim), the Observer (ditto), the Guardian (see the other two)...
Whether you like it or not, Rhodesians are still calling the shots in regards to Zimbabwe's position in the international arena - Peter Hain and other so-called born/raised in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe are seeing to it that Blacks will never have meaning in ZImbabwe.
I never referred to you as white and frankly don't really care. It is more that the vain of your argument more often than not emanates from pissed off whites with a vested interest in maintaining the old Rhodesian order.
Your attempt to give Zimbabwe a kind of duel identity would hardly resonate with the majority today. Also, your assertion that Zimbabwe never existed is just absurd. The millions that have suffered under the incompetence of Mugabe have invariably shed blood and tears more for Zimbabwe than for them selves, you try telling them that all this is only theoretical.
Sir, that the Zimbabweans are divided is hardly a potent argument to deny sovereignty. .Most democracies have had periods of destabilization resulting in conflicts, where a set of ideas or cultural perspectives are pitted against another. Conflict is a natural course on the road to democratic maturity.
I suspect that you don’t really like Zimbabwe, as you have described it as an unfortunate place of your birth. Perhaps this is indeed why you have devoted such little time to understanding the real people and more to sterile academic view points gleaned from books that have passed their used by date. I put it that you have the wrong story, as most black Zimbabweans are intensely proud of their country, Zimbabwe, and speak respectfully of Mugabe whom they regard as a temporary distraction from which they will emerge stronger.
Man are you for real? Wake up and smell the coffee. I was a member of the Zimbabwe Police Support Unit - I'm classified as a deserter. The ZImbabwe you're talking about is a foreign liberal dream! Suffering under Mugabe you say? Here let me quote the Herald: Sept. 18 1992: "Africa in crisis" Zimbabwe: 4,600,000 on brink of starvation
Wheat output down 60%. Conflict in Mozambique worsens famine...
30,000 more cattle killed in drought
Food crisis threat to Muzarabani
Agricultural output to drop by 50%
22,000 cattle die in Midlands
Thirsty settlersabandon homes
State pays $500m for maize subsidies
$4,8 billiob spent on grain imports during last year's drought
$226m spent on drought relief
MORE LIKELY TO BE EARNED BY TOBACCO THIS YEAR
Rhodesia is the theoretical concept that lives in the mind of those who want to continue to undermine any progress in Africa. To be poor and starving don't make one less that human nor is it grounds to strip a country of its sovereignty. Unscrejects, what is your point? We know Africa is poor so what?

Failure knows no bounds, with both Mugabe and Bush.
