I think former Presidents have a policy where they don't criticize the current President. Bush is just following history. Carter was an exception, tho.

  • TexasAggie at 08:56 PM JST - 18th March

Perhaps Bush believes in the old saying we have here in Texas: "Give a man enough rope and he'll hang himself."

  • Blue_Tiger at 09:08 PM JST - 18th March

Just another glaring piece of evidence of the class that the 43rd President of the USA has. I miss you already, Mr. President.

adayream - Clinton most certanly did criticize President Bush:

In 2007 over the Scooter Libby Commution of Sentence...

In 2003 over the Bush Tax Cuts...

In 2005 over the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort....

In 2007 again for 'failing' in Iraq...

And in 2003 in Australia for going into Iraq...

"Rush Limbaugh has said he hoped Obama would fail."

This is misleading. Just from this statement one would naturally think Limbaugh wants the economy to tank, which is not true. He wants President Obama's efforts to socialize the country to fail.

    "Bush received two standing ovations"

This must have some people shaking their silly heads.

"Some protesters threw shoes at an effigy of Bush"

Afterwards they smoked pot and sang "Give Peace a Chance."

“I love my country a lot more than I love politics,” Bush said. “I think it is essential that he be helped in office.”

Sage advice that a few people here should listen to. A united country will always do better than a country that is pulling itself in two. Never thought I'd say this, but well said, George.

  • adaydream at 11:01 PM JST - 18th March

Blue Tiger - When george bush put together his lies and packed his facts with made up assertions about Iraq Bill Clinton was very political and was supportive even though he knew the lies that were put together. I more than once wanted to puke at Clinton's support of bush or at least his words of support.

But since you're so sure, I'd like to see your links that support this. < :-)

"A united country will always do better than a country that is pulling itself in two"

Unless the president is moving the country in the wrong direction, in which case a strong opposition is good. Anyways, we've been pretty much divided 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans for decades, and we've done pretty well. In spite of the current downturn, America has been and will continue to be, at least for the forseeable future, the economic engine of the world.

"I more than once wanted to puke at Clinton's support of bush"

    Heh.

  • Nessie at 11:08 PM JST - 18th March

Bush also said he plans to write a book that will ask people to consider what they would do if they had to protect the United States as president. “It’s going to be about the 12 toughest decisions I had to make,” he said.

    1. Briefs or boxers
    2. Bud or Bud Light
    3. "Nucular" or "nuclear"
    4. Paper or plastic
    5. Outing Scooter Libby or outing Scooter Libby
    6. Avoiding all things French, even if it means not French kissing Tony Blair...

Good on President Bush. Shame Dick Cheney (so aptly named) can't take a more constructive approach too.

Shame Dick Cheney (so aptly named)

you might have to explain that one to Sarge

  • cracaphat at 03:02 AM JST - 19th March

  • bebert at 07:07 AM JST - 19th March

More proof that Bush is not a conservative. Just another dime variety, Ivy League Zionist.

  • Sarge at 07:38 AM JST - 19th March

"Shame ( on ) Dick Cheney ( so aptly named )"

  • PaulieWalnuts at 11:02 AM JST - 19th March
