"“I said very plainly, I said, ‘You’ve got to be concerned about the effects of high oil prices on some of the biggest customers in the world. And not only that, of course, high energy prices are going to cause countries like mine to accelerate our move toward alternative energy.”

Thank you Mr President. We've had since 1973 to do this but your oil industry buddies really had no incentive to push this. Now every soccer mom in suburbia is driving an SUV the size of a WWII vintage tank.

That whole war for nothing! And then it's hilarious to watch that little peanut of a brain Bush has spark a wee little bit and say, "Well, shucks, maybe we ought to reduce our reliance on oil by developing alternative energy sources!". It'll make sarge crazy, because he thinks anyone searching for alternative resources are nothing but 'lunatic environmentalists' (at least he said so yesterday, but now that his own president is flip-flopping it means in sarge's mind his own comments were never said), but that just proves even further he's in the very very very very few remaining supporters left who stand behind bush's big oil policies.

We don't have a supply problem. We have a demand problem, and a dollar that has so devalued that it has only a fraction of its long standing purchasing power. Hence, gasoline costs more. Add to the mix that we no longer have a petro-dollar, we have a petro-euro and a petro-yen, further diminishing the value of the greenback. Once upon a time America made products that the rest of the world wanted to buy. That situation has changed. Cheaper, and in some cases, better products are made cheaper and better elsewhere. America, it's time to draw on your ingenuity to reclaim your place in the world economy! And selling war and weapons doesn't count!

"And selling war and weapons doesn't count!"

It will if they keep starting and fermenting conflicts!

Thank you Mr President. We've had since 1973 to do this but your oil industry buddies really had no incentive to push this. Now every soccer mom in suburbia is driving an SUV the size of a WWII vintage tank." true on the tank part. My wife thinks my brother's SUV is a bus!! and GG does make a good point about our demand problems. I guess I am glad I decided to live in cities with large mass transit means.

But on your post; has the price gas ever gone down significantly since then? If not, why are we only attacking Bush and not his predecessors too? Perhaps doing that would have an effect on future elections political movements.
