    The statement from the NRA:

“Based upon the information currently available, we can confirm that more than a decade ago, in July 1999, Mr. Bennett’s client filed a formal internal complaint, in accordance with the Association’s existing policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Mr. Herman Cain disputed the allegations in the complaint. The Association and Mr. Bennett’s client subsequently entered into an agreement to resolve the matter, without any admission of liability. Mr. Cain was not a party to that agreement. The agreement contains mutual confidentiality obligations. Notwithstanding the Association’s ongoing policy of maintaining the privacy of all personnel matters, we have advised Mr. Bennett that we are willing to waive the confidentiality of this matter and permit Mr. Bennett’s client to comment. As indicated in Mr. Bennett’s statement, his client prefers not to be further involved with this matter and we will respect her decision.

Just for more background on this for folks to consider then is reported in the article.

Sounds as though the woman didn't get the book deal the guy at the Democrat National Committee promised her.

Support for Cain has risen since the Politico hit piece. Go figure.

Politico has published 90 McCain accusation stories in 5 days.... as if this were the most important topic in the world.

Hatchet job. Lets see if it works this time.

    @WilliB,

McCain isn't running this time around, but he suffered his fair share of "accusation stories" back in the day. He was subjected to smear and fear tactics during the 2000 primary race, mostly involving his adopted daughter. Any guesses who initiated the smears? (Hint: Primaries in the U.S. are between members of the same political party)

This is either going to eliminate Cain from the race or it's going to backfire big time.

Gotta love how so many detractors laugh at Cain's 9-9-9 economic program, as though the current system is sound.

Yeah, it's just Cain's word against hers.

    ...and hers.

    ...and hers.

    ...and...

(Bob Packwood flashes a knowing wink.)

If clear evidence emerges that Cain sexually harrassed any woman, I will not support him.

I wonder what yabits will do if no clear evidence emerges that Cain sexually harrassed anyone, probably keep making fun of his economic ideas even though he runs circles around Obama as far as business knowledge goes, and his lack of knowledge of the name of every foreign leader, as though Obama knows all of them, lol.

Cain did not know that China is a nuclear power. They have had the bomb since 1964. To say he is ignorant is being kind, he just may be stupid. But that does not matter to the republican base who wants their candidates to be dim. That explains bush, quayle, reagan, perry, and on and on. They should just elect Tebow now. He is the perfect failure for them.

I would like clear evidence that Cain can tell the truth about the allegations. So far he has done the opposite. Cain should publicly declare that he will subject himself to a polygraph test and then do so. That is what Anita Hill did, and passed with flying colors. (Clarence Thomas absolutely refused the test.)

even though he runs circles around Obama as far as business knowledge goes

I'm not sure that running a pizza franchise gives one superior business knowledge in the areas where a president most needs it. Cain's ability to assess and situation and prepare to address it effectively is clearly lacking.

yabits - Cain didn't just run a pizza franchise - check it out!
