So it is not just Japanese politicians who murmur apologies that are not really apologies!

So the Japanese Imperial Army and the British one have a few things in common?? No full apologies, may mean less $$$ from India to the UK?? Investments etc...me thinks.

Doutbful. This is a country where locals still flock to see the Victoria Memorial in Calcutta. Then there's the Commonwealth links, the UK as the preferred entry point for India-EU business.
And on a personal level, I think the religious freedom/freedom of expression that was found in British India, now not seen (i.e. Pakistan) and the breaking of the caste system during its rule help to balance Britain's 'contribution' to Indian history.
